It was a joy to join State Senator Nick Charles, Special Secretary Yolanda Maria Martinez, and the Prince George’s Chamber of Commerce for a Fireside Chat to discuss how I'm fighting for our small businesses.

I'm forever grateful for those who broke barriers so I can be where I am today. Speaker Pelosi is one of those people.

A fierce fighter for San Francisco and our nation-and ever a daughter of Baltimore-Speaker Pelosi showed us that we have power and a responsibility to use it.

The Trump Administration needs to follow the law and fund SNAP. Immediately.
Team Maryland is standing up for SNAP — it’s past time the U.S. Department of Agriculture and this Administration follow suit. Read the letter, led by @vanhollen.senate.gov, @alsobrooks.senate.gov and I, from the Maryland Delegation on my website.

Marylanders - join us at our Utilities and Internet Services Fair next Thursday for information and guidance about utility concerns. RSVP here: bit.ly/UIFair2025

This Republican shutdown is the longest government shutdown in our nation's history.

And Republicans would rather keep it shut down than ensure affordable health care.

It is so shameful.
November 5, 2025 at 3:05 PM
Republicans can fully fund SNAP, but are choosing to only fund it partially.

1 in 8 Americans rely on SNAP.

But Republicans care more about the 1 in 299,560 Americans that are billionaires.

Thank you Howard County for joining Rep. Elfreth, Attorney General Brown, Comptroller Lierman, and me for our town hall.

Marylanders are sick of this Administration’s cruelty and clear inability to govern. We will continue to fight back and stand strong for Maryland values.

Great to meet with Charles County leadership to hear more on their priorities on how they plan to continue moving the county forward.

I was proud to partner with local leaders and direct federal funding for SMRT and their CSM aviation program.

It’s a sad day when a judge has to order the President of the United States to feed vulnerable families and hungry children with funds already designated for that very purpose.

Honored to join Pastor Jenkins and other faith leaders for the Master Series of Distinguished Clergy at First Baptist Church of Glenarden.

Together, we will continue the fight for a just future — a future where we can all live safely, with dignity, and thrive.

Happy Halloween Maryland!

I am wishing you all a festive, safe, and fun Halloween – full of treats!

Even though Republicans are keeping the government shut down, Team Maryland will always fight for our people. I'm thankful to Governor Moore for working to ensure Marylanders don't go hungry because the President is REFUSING to fund SNAP.
I said we’d take care of our people – and I meant it.

This Administration is illegally withholding available funds for SNAP and WIC.

1 in every 8 Americans relies on SNAP– including nearly 700,000 Marylanders.

The Senate must pass @lujan.senate.gov's bill that would force Trump to release the funding.

My statement on Republicans trying to jam through the Environment and Public Works Committee a partisan resolution, breaking with years of precedent, for the relocation of the FBI headquarters:

Republicans continue to do this President's bidding:

They shut down the government.

They are keeping the government shut down.

And now, they are choosing to deny Americans SNAP.
Speaker Mike Johnson is siding with the Trump administration’s decision to not tap emergency funds for food aid for 42 million Americans — who are slated to lose SNAP benefits on Saturday if the government shutdown continues.
Johnson backs Trump's plans not to tap contingency dollars for food aid ahead of funding cliff
The White House is warning 42 million low-income Americans will start to miss SNAP benefits Saturday if Democrats don’t vote for the funding stopgap this week.

Inflation is the highest it's been since Trump took office.

Trump’s economy is FAILING. Grocery prices, rent, and health care costs are skyrocketing.

And Republicans would still rather keep our government shut down than lower health care costs.

Federal workers don’t just serve Democrats. They serve every American citizen.

And I would assume and hope everyone in the United States Senate agrees that Americans should get paid for their labor.

If you believe that, I urge you to support our True Shutdown Fairness Act.

Republicans are trying to repurpose our government to serve the billionaires.

My friend Jeff has been on the Senate Floor all night reminding Republicans: this government is for the people NOT the billionaires.
This is really what it comes down to.

I'm holding the Senate floor to say HELL NO to Trump destroying our We the People government.

This Administration is hoping we get tired. They want us to lose faith, to stand down. They want us to bow down to a king. But we will never bow.

We will keep fighting through this season. And when it is over, we will rebuild. Keep the faith and keep up the fight.

Happy Diwali to all celebrating here in Maryland and across the globe!

May the Festival of Lights bring you and your families peace, happiness, and prosperity.

It was such a joy to speak to the Hillcrest Marlow Heights Civic Association and thank them for all they do for our community.

Their civic engagement has made a difference in so many lives.

Thank you Pastor Gerald Folsom for inviting me to be the guest speaker for Greater Mt. Nebo AME’s “Get Active” Sunday!

In the midst of all we are experiencing, I reminded the congregation that as Christians we must remember to run our spiritual race and keep our eyes on Jesus.

I have a question: Can anyone aside from the billionaires claim their life has gotten because of this presidency? NO.

Have your grocery prices gone down? NO.

Have your health care costs gone down? NO.

This Administration is failing.

Our history is full of evidence that we go through different seasons — seasons of challenge and seasons of progress. Coretta Scott King said that ‘freedom is never really won. You earn it and win it in each generation.’

There are no kings in America — we will fight for that.
