Basavareddy, coached by Cervara who’s here on the side, is trying to beat Struff to reach Hong Kong main draw. I still need to get used to see Cervara without Medvedev!

New edition of the Tennis Sweet Spot coming your way live from Hong Kong on Tuesday! The city, the tennis in the city, some non HK related tennis rants (because if there’s no rant, is it really a TSS edition??), I’ll have it all covered! “See” you soon :)

Xavier Malisse to coach Grigor Dimitrov: okay I am 👂 ! Intriguing choice here. Side note: Raducanu to Uniqlo is 👀. Nike, what happened? Even more after also losing Draper. British exodus.

Cannot believe it’s the first time I watch Get Out. What do u mean it’s been released in 2017!? It’s freaking terrifying but the cast and story are fire, especially the hilarious (great relief) best friend: each time he yells ”get outta here!“ in that phone, I’m like yeah why doesn’t he fucking run!

Also I’m clearly on a Leo kick again because rewatched the Aviator (unreal) and Catch me if you can (addictive). Surely how I landed on the Wolf again.
The rewatchability of the Wolf of Wall Street (or actually basically all Leo’s work) is as usual astounding. 25 minutes in and I’m already laughing-crying as the first time. The lines, the way it’s shot, the unhinged atmosphere… It’s just so good.

Talking about rewatching, did it for the Bourne trilogy recently and had forgotten how it’s one of the rare Matt Damon thing I really liked. Made a mistake by deciding to also watch Legacy (really, stop hiring Renner…) and the last Damon’s Bourne (so bad…). This industry never knows when to stop…

Thing I didn’t know before reading all the Alcaraz/Ferrero coverage late last night is that Carlos dad has a tennis academy. And suddenly, some things start to add up… A bit dismayed though to read about it all could also be a negotiation gone wrong thing. Like… Business, business…

Side note: wondering where Alcaraz is going to train / be based as Ferrero and his academy are now history. Rafa’s? So many questions.
Biggest tennis divorce since Rafa and Toni? Surely.
I’m sorry but Ferrero - Alcaraz what? Carlitos, what have you done? Okay…

ATP finally joining the WTA with that heat rule. Still no idea why the men intended to burn for so long instead of taking that break…

Tiantsoa Sarah Rakotomanga Rajaonah (#119) and Kyrian Jacquet (#138) get main draw WCs for the Australian Open (WC system between French and Australian federations).

Ksenia Efremova (16yo, WTA #736) gets one for the qualifications as this year the FFT says the system has been expanded to quallies.

The new knives out is so bad… Unwatchable. The moment Renner appeared I knew it was gonna be bad and then freaking Kunis!? U’re kidding me… Moronic plot too and I might have broken my record by guessing the culprit under 20’. Glad I went to the end directly lol. What a disaster.

It consisted of an arthroplasty to relieve pain & restoring mobility.

30 tournaments concerned, the first one being Abu Dhabi.
The WTA currently holding a press conference to announce the (huge) deal with Mercedes-Benz. From where? Stuttgart. And I’m like, wow… Stuttgart is (was) the WTA 500 basically looking like forever branded by Porsche. Well… BJK and Roger Federer attending right now. Andrea Petkovic is moderating.

2026 is around the corner: What should we expect from tennis on and off the court? Giving my two cents. As far as Shapovalov and coach are concerned, the Top 10 is the goal.

What a super piece! I enjoyed what you wrote about 2026 as well as your interview with Shapo & his coach. Subscribing to The Tennis Sweet Spot was the best tennis-related thing I did this year.

Worst thing Holger Rune can do is to “social media” his rehab. He got one of the worst injuries athletes can get, has long road ahead. No way to go through it in serene manner by turning it into a show.I understand why he/team might be scared of the dark, but put that phone down. Done w/ news cycle.

When for once there is no queue!! Such a cute spot in Paris, especially the reading room upstairs. But usually you walk by the moment you see the line outside.
