3 years ago today, Riot Games offered me a job making more money than I ever thought I’d make in my life. I had 19 interviews over 2.5 months to get it. Partner and I were moving to LA for it. I put in notice at my job and apartment.

2 weeks later they rescinded the offer due to “headcount issues”.

I'm not on social media much atm because of burnout/health issues BUT

It's important that I mention this: if you have the ability to help someone else this festive season, please do!

There are trees in shops that have these present tags, to help families get support for their kids.

Materialists is on HBO Max (or whatever her name is) & just in time for my reoccuring stress dream about being forced into marriage! Enjoy this piece I did for Collider before they unceremoniously canned like half of their freelancers. #Materialists #Film
Celine Song knows what she's doing.

"There’s a refusal to engage with intentional storytelling, in favor of justifying the lack of satisfaction viewers find in it. Materialists holds up a mirror to its audience, some of that audience are only comfortable breaking it." #film #filmsky #Materialists
No, Celine Song's ‘Materialists’ Isn’t “Broke Boy Propaganda”
And if you haven't seen the viral interview...

Lots of folks captioning aurora photos like "for a few minutes we didn't think about politics"

guess I'm built different, every time I'm out trying to see night sky stuff I frequently think about how much light pollution is entirely preventable with just a tiny bit of regulation

holy shit did I laugh.
Absolutely howling at this track a dad left his daughter on a random and bizarre mix tape he made for her before he died.

Come for the vocals; stay for the final line 🤣 what a wonderful gift to leave her and what a wholesome reaction!

If you ever wonder why your artist friend is so pissed off whenever they see AI slop used instead of real, human-created art, it's exactly what you think:
How is AI *really* impacting jobs?

Henley Chiu, the CTO of Revealera, a jobs data analysis firm, analyzed 180 million jobs listings in 2024 and 2025, in an effort to find out. Chiu found an:

-8% drop in all jobs postings
-~30% drop in art, photography, writing jobs
-22% drop in journalism jobs
What’s really going on with AI and jobs?
Record-breaking layoff reports, Amazon's mass firings, and a slump in entry level employment. Is AI behind it all?

Frog is one of the nicest and most relentlessly talented people I know. It sucks, so bad, for every creative you know right now. Please, if you can, hire him. Dude ROCKS.
Folks it pains me to ask so bluntly, but could anyone use some work doing by me? I've got to find income for three months until my next royalty payment, and I'm not having much luck.

I have obtained a copy of the Flood Advisory issued by Met Éireann to local authorities today showing an orange level flood risk for many parts of East and South. I cannot see why it is not made public as I believe it is in the public interest to share it so I am sharing it.

As an honorary Clare man (aka blow-in), I second Rob's call that the people of Clare deserve better leadership.

Clare has a strong history of welcoming immigrants, be they intercounty like myself, Northerners escaping the troubles, or of Indian, Asian, or African descent, or from anywhere else.
1/3
My letter in today's Clare Champion calling out the xenophobic dog-whistling from our local TD, Timmy Dooley, as well as Sinn Féin's Matt Carthy.
Immigrants are not the reason I've struggled to retain housing or buy my own home - Government policies are. Landlords like Timmy Dooley are. #Spéirgorm

An Cailleach brings the winter 🌬️

The mythological figure in Irish, Scottish, and Manx tradition who summons winter, and is associated with storms, reshaping the landscape, and horned beasts like deer. She defies convention and is a force for regeneration.

as someone with two children who are talented at math and need (especially the younger one) a lot of help with social and emotional stuff this makes me want to scream

please help your children learn to interact with the world, it will make their lives (and everyone else’s!) so much easier
I think the belief by the powerful that "people will put up with many things if you are excellent at math" is incredibly revealing in terms of understanding How We Got Here

Something very interesting uncovered in the recent Andrew Lownie book on Prince Andrew is that Maitlis & the Newsnight team which got famous off their interview of Andrew stole all the journalistic work of a BBC Panorama team in Belfast, didn't credit them, & then erased them from history.

I went to meet the 'Rockstar 31', the developers who were suddenly fired from their work on GTA 6 for what the studio has described as gross misconduct.

That's not what the workers call it though. They have another couple of words they prefer to use: union busting.
