'We want to get away from yearly targets', says the Government that has been missing housing targets for years.
“Why is there no annual targets in this plan?”

“Because we are focused on activation,” Minister for Housing James Browne says.

"The problem with targets is that we keep missing them, so we're moving to a vibe based estimate of the numbers of houses we need to build."

I remember the first time I visited Salisbury Cathedral's grounds (for a concert & picnic thing) & truly thought my cousins were messing with me when they told me about the Holy Dipstick.

Returned a few days later for another musical thing inside & discovered the dipstick was in fact a real thing 🤯
i fully agree with this theory and in my actual field, british architectural history, The Problem is that Salisbury Cathedral is built on top of a lake and no i am not exaggerating
between this and the FSO Safer (another ship at serious risk of exploding) I’m convinced every field has its “yeah, this is the problem that keeps me up at night” and I’m on a quest to learn about all of them

I really have been noticing lately that ppl, especially online, don't seem to comprehend any sort of specific context to textual statements - they pick out keywords and assume what you said around them. It's why you can repeatedly clarify statements in basic English and they still won't get it
ever since I learned about three-cueing I've developed infinitely more patience for replies on social media. mfers literally do not know how to read. people are walking around conjuring random meanings into words they don't know, and they don't know a lot of words. it's crazy

We NEED to find the self-respect (and curiosity about the rest of the world) to stop reporting on tech news in terms of whether we are shamefully backward or acceptably modern.

We don't stand for this simplistic approach in sports journalism - can we hold business journalism to the same standard?

My gosh — After Israeli forces tear-gassed this kid, making him collapse, other soldiers then "detained the ambulance carrying Aysam from the Beita Emergency Center to Nablus for several minutes, interrogating the driver about Aysam’s injury, location, and cause before it was allowed to continue."
New — Israeli forces just killed this Palestinian boy.

Last month, he and his family were harvesting olives. Soldiers bombarded them with tear gas, making him collapse.

He was in critical condition until today.

He is the 47th kid killed by Israeli soldiers and settlers in the West Bank this year.

Very glad they retired the Viceregal Throne.

An episode of Nationwide last week covered the recent refurbishment of the throne so had wondered whether it would pop up somewhere in the ceremony.

Great to see the newer Presidential Inauguration Chair is still favoured🪉
Taking a moment to appreciate the Presidential Chair.

Age Action estimates that 62% of adults over 65 are digitally excluded, either because they lack access or basic digital skills.

Behind those numbers are real costs – anxiety, poorer health outcomes, lost independence, and the slow erosion of confidence that comes from being shut out of daily life.
"Essential services are now digital by default, leaving many older people feeling locked out of their own lives."

As more of our lives move online by default, digital ageism has quietly become one of the last unchallenged prejudices, writes Fiona Daly.

Declan Ganley & his debts reminds me of 2008. The whole country depressed/angry/both with the death of the Celtic Tiger, except for the big developers who partied on with the help of NAMA. I recall seeing a pic of Johnny Ronan on a yacht with a couple of women &lots of champagne. This is the same.

Wondering why no one likes your posts anymore, even among your friends? It's because @jay.bsky.team and team have decided to hide a huge amount of content from all of our feeds by default.
