A year ago, Tracy Hoeg was selling people unproven therapies (like injecting your own blood into your knees) for cash. She is trained in physical medicine & rehabilitation, & does not have any relevant background for this position other than being a prolific & extreme antivaxxer and disease promoter
I suspect FDA no longer has qualified people willing to do this job.

I'm glad to see this but disgusted at the time, energy and funds that were wasted because DOGE and the fascists (but then I repeat myself) wanted to hobble the country
I do not regret to inform you that we are going to win. (ht OT)
The Institute of Museum and Library Services, the federal agency that provides funding for America's libraries, has announced it is reinstating all grants it had previously terminated, including those to libraries and library organizations across the U.S.

Statehood for D.C. is an ethical obligation at this point, required to protect the rights of our residents to govern ourselves against such out-of-state troops being sent to patrol our city.
NEW: Republican-led states, in a new filing at the D.C. Circuit, say D.C. residents are irrelevant, D.C. belongs to everyone else. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

The filing is led by the South Carolina and West Virginia attorneys general. Both states sent troops to DC.

Hard to overstate how damning it is they've spun their wheels trying to come up with their strongest possible argument and the best they can do, the rationalization for it Hegseth actually put in writing, is "we can kill shipwrecked survivors if they try to call for help."
2/ The Hegseth-approved contingency plan:

The U.S. military could try to kill shipwrecked survivors if "they took what the United States deemed to be a hostile action, like communicating with suspected cartel members."

I could not for the life of me tell you who paid on me and my wife’s first date because we were just like, ya know, having a great time talking to each other
I can't imagine noticing the kind of bullshit these gurus give advice about — Have a firm handshake, pay the bill, make prolonged eye contact, etc. Even in gay world where things are much more looks- and sex-oriented I'm not going to have sex with you unless I like being around you!

truly feels like every day we are waiting for someone in the press room to point out that the emperor has no clothes

someone will, someday, and the tide will turn, and these people’s children and grandchildren will be deeply ashamed of them; but they aren’t there yet, and it’s maddening
He can't stay awake. Or walk. Or speak. I'm so sick of the GOP denial. The embarrassing flattery parades. The complicit press standing silent while he drones on incomprehensibly or insults colleagues who dare to question his lies. Or laughing obligatorily at his non-jokes. I'm just so tired of it.

and so does the absolutely toxic idea of policing disabled people… to protect disabled people.

i can’t imagine what kind of mind can put those 2 thoughts together without lighting on fire
We need to be able to see that the line "accommodations have gone too far" is an expression of the ableist notion that disabled students do not belong in higher ed. Its fundamentally an anxiety about the fact that disabled students get an "advantage" over abled students.

this wasn’t just TPUSA, by the way, this was libs of tiktok in her endless pursuit of destroying the lives of any queer or trans person she can reach.

this is what we’ve decided will be normalized and acceptable in our society, an endless pogrom driven by heartless grifters, one victim at a time.
what they’re showing is that no institution will support or back a trans woman under any circumstances.

as soon as someone makes a threat or kicks up a fuss, we are abandoned, betrayed, left to twist in the wind.

what place in society is secure for us, while this is the status quo?

what place?

Abuse culture is an ideology, as surely as capitalism or fascism.
I'm flummoxed by the underground movement to rehab cancelled figures. There's a rumor that a studio head is planning to begin bringing cancelled people back. It's bananas. The industry has contracted, leaving writers, directors and actors scrambling for work and we're making space for sex criminals?

This is why non-romance people need to read more romance, honestly: will-they-won’t-they is fine but it is not the same narrative as “they did and then they did again and then they keep going but eventually someone’s gonna find out and then they’re REALLY fucked.”
but this? shut the fuck up. guess what, my man, gorgeous young 22 year olds like to fuck. And queer people deserve love stories that are sexy and horny. a "chaste kiss" please be for real.

There are specific reasons Trumpists want war on Venezuela, but there‘s a generic one: they crave power to make war on anyone, any time, for completely fabricated reasons, and then to use the guise of war to increase violence and repression everywhere, including home.

They are lawless bestial scum.

This thread is a horror, and while generative "A.i." is not entirely to blame, it's absolutely part of the problem and should be entirely abolished from education.
An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.
