Not sure why America got booed at the Olympics but it probably has to do with our country being a bloodthirsty warmonger led by disgusting racist slobs to the point that our president is the star of the Epstein files

Yeah the right wing of the country got way more openly racist and the secret police have been emboldened to tear gas random children whenever they feel like but at least the labor market is terrible and we'll all be poorer forever

BREAKING: On February 2, Sec. Noem issued a memo asserting the lapse in appropriations for DHS meant there is no Sec. 527 — the provision protecting congressional oversight visits to immigration detention facilities — and she was issuing a new (third) policy requiring seven-day notice for visits.

The Super Bowl is a window into how much the U.S. economy has changed. I remember when it was mostly ads for cars, beer and stuff you’d find in the grocery store. Now it’s all AI, gambling, crypto (also gambling) and Ozempic.

WaPo editorial board when TX imposes a legislative gerrymander: don't freak out guys! Not a threat to democracy!

When VA responds to TX with *referendum* on their own gerrymander: brass-knuckled hypocrisy, anti-democratic gamesmanship.

There is hypocrisy here, all right, but not from VA.

The rules clearly say we act in bad faith, manipulating the system to give ourselves disproportionate power, and you pretend it's good faith, letting it happen while unilaterally restricting yourself in adherence to standards we say must be honored when it helps us and violate otherwise. No fair!

A lot of our political discourse would be easier if we didn't extend good faith to people who would never extend it back.

Eliminating ICE is the modern equivalent of opposing the Iraq War, and right now there are two types of Democrats: those who can see where the ball is moving and go to it, and those who will be swept away because they refused to do so.
“I would rather you vote for what is morally correct,” Davidson said.

“Don’t talk to me about my own morality,” DeLauro shot back.

“Don’t tell your constituents what they can and can’t talk to you about,” replied Rev. Nathan Empsall. “What you are voting for is not moral.”

This is the thing that always blows my mind about Trump v US: presented with the very real circumstances of a president who violated federal law, the majority decide to treat it as a theoretical creative writing exercise, and treat those real circumstances as a far flung hypothetical.
Every time I re-read Trump v. United States, it feels like getting hit in the head with a mallet.
