This late sequence from Cooper Flagg was mega-impressive. Secures a big rebound. Takes the ball the length of the floor. Tough spin move. Finishes over Giannis through contact.

Reminder. Flagg reclassified to go to college a year early. He's still only 18.

2) I think the Senate Minority Leader has the power to cut off DNC support for Dem incumbents reelection campaigns. I think the SML has the power to take the mic in front of TV cameras and denounce the selfish anti-Dems who caved.

Schumer won't bc he's a collaborator, but he could have.

1) (cont.)

The time to replace Schumer wasn't this past weekend. It was in spring when he concocted the idea that if Dems let ppl suffer, that was good for the Democratic Party.

There is no one in the Senate today I would trust w leadership, but a new leader could at least repudiate this.

1) Schumer announced in spring during that CR fight that his plan was to capitulate... this in the hope that voters would blame the GOP in 2026 and thus Dem senators would benefit.

Don't put yr career b4 the ppl's welfare

I refuse to support a funding bill that fails to address the Republican health care crisis.

And make health insurance affordable.

The American people clearly understand the stakes and the urgency. We must too.

I'm voting no.

You can't have people in leadership positions who stab you in the back and then turn around and say oh well, let's move on and do nothing about that, really you're the problem for complaining about it.

If you actually want a more united front, the most obvious choice is replace Schumer as leader because he has zero credibility and people rightly loathe him. But at a bare minimum if you want to at least make some gesture, replace Durbin as whip. He's retiring anyway. There would be no downside.

Actuarial insurance is something you hope never to use. Social insurance is something you expect to (and should) use at different points in your life. Health insurance is a funny combination of both those things.
Remember that insurance is actually a thing you hope never to use, and then read this critique.

Note that she's not blaming the Democrats who doomed us to this outcome yesterday.

We already know every Senate Republican is trash.

But we're SUPPOSED to be supported by our own D senators.

But they screwed us.

Murray isn't addressing that. Plank in your own eye, etc.
We're debating on the government funding package right now and every single Republican voted against a Democratic amendment to pass a clean, one-year extension of the ACA tax credits.

Republicans just don't care about your health care.

The shutdown deal includes a ban on hemp products that none of its negotiators debated in public.

Disappointing that only 24 senators voted against killing an amendment to strike that ban.

This is violence.
Steve Inskeep: You think the Republicans voting with you here will not only agree to these measures, but actually try to do something if the administration ignores them?

Sen Cortez Masto: If they go back on their word, then the American public will know where the Republicans stand.

"Democratic capitulators whose seats would be filled by Democratic governors in the event of vacancy (Durbin, Fetterman, Kaine, King) should be under immense pressure to resign mid-session. Now, even. Or in Kaine’s case, after Abigail Spanberger is sworn in. If your senator fits that bill, get loud"

MoveOn, Indivisible, Our Revolution, and 6 Democrats have called on Chuck Schumer to step aside as leader.

So we asked all 40 Democratic senators who didn’t cave to Republicans if they still think Schumer is the right leader.

Here's what they said.

They COORDINATED this so the people you'd be mad at would be ones you couldn't do anything about.

Say it out loud to yourself. Burn it into your fucking memory. Flood the Dems' phone lines and swamp their offices.
