this is the way to govern right now. center your people, center voters, eschew party politics and procedure. lives depend on it.

really wish your national counterparts had not thrown you under the bus
We followed a court order and worked quickly to make sure that nearly 700,000 Wisconsinites who rely on FoodShare, including about 270,000 kids, had food to eat.

Now, President Trump wants to yank that money away from hungry kids, families, and seniors in Wisconsin? Hell no.

Georgina Pope served in both the Second Boer War and the First World War.
As a nurse, she ran military hospitals, helped thousands of soldiers and was the first Canadian to receive the Royal Red Cross.
This is her amazing story.

also, there are plenty of text to speech tools that just record and don't analyze and they've existed for nearly my entire life. we've got to stop allowing people to conflate direct, non-generative tools with genAI when they have a financial incentive to do so

we should not be letting any company get away with blaming AI for their failures. I'm not even sure how we got to this point. people are like "it's just a tool" okay so is a forklift and we still hold somebody responsible when it goes wrong and hurts someone. this is YOUR AI!

Getting pretty freaked out that I won’t be able to pay my mortgage this month, so all my lovingly hand painted original landscapes are now 60% off the listed price AND I will ship free within the US.
Help a gal out, please.

I got this useful bon mot from a middle school teacher recently.

In response to, “I DONT UNDERSTAND,” he calmly said, “okay what steps have you taken to understand?”

And that’s when I realized that a lot of folks have no steps.

The thing that Canadian leaders never seem to say plainly is that if grocery, housing, gas and utility costs are going up, our wages are going down in terms of buying power. Cost of living raises haven't kept pace with actual costs for decades. Wage stagnation and wage theft are massive issues. 1/

Isn't it convenient how the left has almost no societal power, yet we're responsible for the right and center (who hold virtually all of the wealth and power) not stepping up to deal with a chronic problem like male loneliness.

It's really sad that conservatives can't even talk about male loneliness without bringing their own culture wars bullshit into it.

No leftist is stopping Erin O'Toole from using his connections to create a network of hunting clubs for young men.

Yet it's somehow the left's fault he isn't doing it.
Opinion: We owe it to Canadian men and boys to prioritize their mental health
Male Canadians are less likely to seek help, and more likely to suffer devastating consequences because of it

Read every word & share with everyone you know. This is real life here in Chicago. Americans need to know this grotesque reality & stand with us.
Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

50 years ago today, Nov. 10, 1975, the Edmund Fitzgerald sank beneath the waves of Lake Superior during a massive storm.
The sinking took the lives of all 29 men on the ship, and became immortalized in Gordon Lightfoot's song.
This is the story of this terrible tragedy.

AOC comes out swinging
The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Genetics are fun. I'm built like and have the colouring of my dad's Scottish ancestors. Yet, my nose is directly from my maternal great-grandmother.

I wonder which body language and vocal habits have carried on through. Things that couldn't be recorded. I laugh like my mom and her mom, for example.

while i appreciate @404media.co explaining this, if you ever find yourself explaining to someone why smart glasses recording people is different from a smartphone, i think you have to consider that they're playing with you, and you're playing back in turn.
