Allegedly we should have tufted titmice here, but to quote my husband, "I've never fucking seen one."

I miss the ravens and magpies. And my husband says he misses the meadowlarks. We ought to have thrm, but he hasn't seen one since he was a kid.

also, there are plenty of text to speech tools that just record and don't analyze and they've existed for nearly my entire life. we've got to stop allowing people to conflate direct, non-generative tools with genAI when they have a financial incentive to do so

we should not be letting any company get away with blaming AI for their failures. I'm not even sure how we got to this point. people are like "it's just a tool" okay so is a forklift and we still hold somebody responsible when it goes wrong and hurts someone. this is YOUR AI!

And in 2020, we had a small group of bobwhites hanging around. So adorable. But I think foxes got them. They were fairly tame, so I think they were escapees from a farm.

I'll have to ask. I haven't to my knowledge, but I can only identify the most common birds here. My husband is amazing at naming birds and remembering what he's seen. Our big one here is eastern bluebirds. I can never catch them in the right light so they never look blue to me. But we've got them!

I got this useful bon mot from a middle school teacher recently.

In response to, “I DONT UNDERSTAND,” he calmly said, “okay what steps have you taken to understand?”

And that’s when I realized that a lot of folks have no steps.

When I lived in Winnipeg, I missed seeing cardinals. Now that I'm back in southern Ontario, I love that we have a few nesting at our place. Although my bird nerd partner says he thinks we saw a greater variety of birds during the migration periods when we were out west.

This inequality is unsustainable. No one needs to or should make this much more than the people whose labour companies need to succeed.

In 2022, workers on average got a 3% pay increase. But prices increased by over 6%. So we lost 4% in pay.

Tax the rich. Fund social services & UBI. 3/3

Yet no one in power seems willing to talk about it. Our labour creates huge profits for the very corporations and business owners our governments love to give tax breaks to.

Income inequality is one of the main drivers of many issues we're seeing. Not immigration or foreign workers or crime. 2/
Smoke and mirrors and the truth about workers’ wages not keeping up with inflation
From groceries to gas to housing, the cost of living is skyrocketing. This increase in prices is called inflation. In 2022, the average inflation rate in Canada is expected to be 8%. When wages fail t...

Isn't it convenient how the left has almost no societal power, yet we're responsible for the right and center (who hold virtually all of the wealth and power) not stepping up to deal with a chronic problem like male loneliness.
