A short but amazing read. The plot moves along at an accelerating pace until the end arrives to take the wind out of you.

Not a word goes to waste.

As a lifelong bad sleeper, I felt this one in my bones.

I love how wildlife friendly gardening fits neatly with my laziness and hatred of soulless pristine lawns.

I love how the ghosts of my summer flowers remain throughout winter, breaking up the visual starkness of winter's grayscale landscapes.

And my laziness helps feed overwintering birds.

Genetics are fun. I'm built like and have the colouring of my dad's Scottish ancestors. Yet, my nose is directly from my maternal great-grandmother.

I wonder which body language and vocal habits have carried on through. Things that couldn't be recorded. I laugh like my mom and her mom, for example.

I raced through this. Hendrix creates a world & characters who feel alive & his style steps back to let them breathe. I'd call it breezy, but that's not quite right. Because it's definitely not light.

If you have a teen horror fan in your house, hand them this. Say a witchy auntie recommends it.

Reposting with alt text.

Meta scamming the scammed does nothing to protect people, but sure does line Meta's pockets.

In one story from the article, someone lost $40,000. A life-changing amount for a regular person.

That's nothing to Meta.

We need tougher international laws. And consequences.

She was a lab/Akita cross. Sweet as could be, but would have fought God himself for a chance to eat out of our compost bin.

This is her 2 days before we let her go. Eyeballing some grapes I was eating even though I told her they're bad for dogs

These look great! I may be biased because they look very much like ones my grandpa is wearing in one of my favourite photos of him.

Who's your favourite Hannibal Lecter? All have been great, but for my money, it's Brian Cox. He's so bitchy, yet menacing & has more physicality. I believe he could easily kill someone. Mads Mikkelsen is a strong second because he adds black humour. And he wears the heck out of a suit.

Happy Halloween, witches!

Wild that nearly 30 years after they released, Romeo + Juliet and Ever After, are still influencing Halloween costumes for teens and young adults.

I was in high school and then university when these movies came out and the stranglehold these had on girl aesthetics can't be fully described.

We adored this movie. Im pretty sure we had it on VHS, even though our family didn't own many VHS tapes because they were very expensive.

We also had these pleather E.T. toys. Which we played with until the pleather peeled off.

I remember this movie wrung us out emotionally every viewing.

I wish I still had my Blue Jays shirt from 1990. It was this design, but on a purple shirt. Very 1990.

That would be fun.

When I was 6 or 7, my grandma knitted this cat-eared hood for me, my sister and our cousin. Although none of us looked as menacing as this child. I think mine was yellow to match my snowsuit.

My rainy morning commute was significantly improved by the spectacular sunrise.

Not shown: when I looked out the driver's side, I saw double rainbows over bush lots ablaze in autumn colours.

American baseball fans: It's the Kendrick vs Drake World Series.

Canadian baseball fans: We disavow Drake and will not stand for this Geddy Lee erasure.

My toxic trait is how much I enjoy Kerr's Halloween molasses kisses. Allegedly, the Kerrs, Scottish immigrants, based them on a popular Scottish candy.

I look forward to these every year. And they must be Kerr's. Shoppers Drug Mart's Carnaby Sweet brand has knock-offs & they don't taste right

I think someone got raptured?

October seemed like the right month for finally watching Yellowjackets.

I'm not quite through season 1 and I'm loving the braiding of Gothic, folk, and body horror to focus on teen girls and middle-aged women.

Also, I love how this era of TV gives us stories about women over 40.

If Bluesky goes the way of Twitter, I'll leave, but I won't migrate to another social media site. I'll finally be free.

I think it's important you see the face my dog makes as she's politely asking me to share my lunch with her.

She's missing her top incisors and she has an underbite, so her top lip often gets stuck like this.
