You don't need AI to make animation. You literally have a camera in your pocket. You can draw with a stick in the mud and shoot the frames. There are several apps that help make this even easier.
You don’t need Disney-level resources and drawing skills to create animation.

People have made classics with sand and a source of light. With magazine clippings, or their own bodies animated via stop motion. There’s no barrier to entry, as we explore: animationobsessive.substack.com/p/sand-and-a...

This is pretty Poindexter of me, and no one asked, BUT: That's because of hunters. same deal with deer. They're everywhere because American hunters are such active, rabid conservationists that they took (invasive and feral, BTW) turkeys from endangered to everywhere!
CONFIRMED: After getting 76 replies, it’s clear that wild turkeys run this whole damn country.
Y’all got wild turkeys in OAKLAND????

Okay, now I’m convinced that turkeys took over the country and none of us noticed because we were busy dealing with the OTHER coup.

If you have wild turkeys in your area, reply with where you live. We must expose them!

The 2026 native plant project is up and running!

We have 10 seed distribution stations set up all around the city, each thanks to a volunteer poster hoster.

This project was made possible by monthly donors to @skypeascientist.bsky.social and people who bought calendars from SquidFacts.net!

lol, it’s a lot easier to form a tenants union when everyone in the building is in the same group chat
MAJOR: Twin Cities Tenants joins five labor unions, together repping 25,900 members, to launch a rent strike drive, vowing to withhold rent March 1 if @governorwalz.mn.gov fails to deliver an eviction moratorium and rent relief. If launched, this would be the largest US rent strike in 100+ years.

Ok. I have to get something important off my mind: It is *utterly incomprehensible* to me that Erin Morgenstern's The Starless Sea does not seem to have the rabid, intense secondary merch markets that SO MANY (imo) lesser books have.

Carla Cunningham, the Dem lawmaker who has given the NC GOP critical votes on bills to force compliance with ICE and break environmental rules, faces a huge primary challenge.

We reached her asking for an interview, & when she declined we asked her campaign specific questions. All we got:

They raided the jailed children to steal their letters.

The problem, in federal officials' minds, wasn't confining children in prison-camp conditions; it was that the children could tell the public about it.
“I don’t want to be in this place I want to go to my school.”

Today, after @propublica.org published this story, the camp was raided to confiscate letters from the children.

At some point all that obscure infrastructure built for Y2K that nobody bothered to update in the last 25 years is going tits up and we will be in a world of hurt.
People talk about this stuff in terms of how much it'll suck for gaming and I hate to inform you how many MRI machines, X-Rays, all sorts of other vital machinery are just a Windows IoT Edition PC in a beige plastic box with a big magnet/accelerator/whatever attached.

For years, human rights advocates have been warning that mandatory online ID checks are a death sentence for activists, journalists, and ordinary people resisting authoritarian regimes, for this exact reason.

Forcibly associating online activity with your government name puts dissidents in danger.

Progressive lawmakers who care about human rights desperately need to connect these dots.

You can't claim to oppose the Trump admin's authoritarian crackdowns while supporting legislation that would expand Trump's censorship and surveillance powers.

Protect activists! Oppose online ID checks.
