They raided the jailed children to steal their letters.

The problem, in federal officials' minds, wasn't confining children in prison-camp conditions; it was that the children could tell the public about it.
“I don’t want to be in this place I want to go to my school.”

- 7 year old imprisoned by ICE for 70 days in a concentration camp in Texas.

Today, after @propublica.org published this story, the camp was raided to confiscate letters from the children.

At some point all that obscure infrastructure built for Y2K that nobody bothered to update in the last 25 years is going tits up and we will be in a world of hurt.
People talk about this stuff in terms of how much it'll suck for gaming and I hate to inform you how many MRI machines, X-Rays, all sorts of other vital machinery are just a Windows IoT Edition PC in a beige plastic box with a big magnet/accelerator/whatever attached.

For years, human rights advocates have been warning that mandatory online ID checks are a death sentence for activists, journalists, and ordinary people resisting authoritarian regimes, for this exact reason.

Forcibly associating online activity with your government name puts dissidents in danger.

Progressive lawmakers who care about human rights desperately need to connect these dots.

You can't claim to oppose the Trump admin's authoritarian crackdowns while supporting legislation that would expand Trump's censorship and surveillance powers.

Protect activists! Oppose online ID checks.

NEW: When North Carolina's GOP wanted to pass a bill last year to require that local governments comply with ICE, they were one vote down.

A Democratic lawmaker gave that decisive vote—as she has on other GOP bills.

Now, she faces a primary challenge from a progressive activist... in 14 days.

There is no drawdown. There is no retreat. ICE is just redistributing their assets to better avoid accountability.
The same day DHS announced the surge would end in Minnesota, ICE activity increased in small towns
The less densely populated areas outside the Twin Cities make it harder for protesters and observers to organize.

One thing that's important to realize now is that, even in a scenario where Dems sweep to a crushing trifecta in 2028, Republicans will use their control of the courts to attempt to continue, as much as they can, to run executive agencies in exile, with DHS/ICE under Biden as the model
