Folks, I promise you the election officials in places Trump would want to target have been on this earth longer than one day. They have thought about federal interference in their elections before.
imho people are focusing on the words "cancel the midterms" and saying uh actually a president cannot do that at the expense of what they would actually try to do, ie send troops/ice into liberal cities to suppress the vote
the question to ask about this is, okay, he wants to cancel the midterms. how does he get the VA state board of elections to cancel the midterms? how does he get the georgia board of elections to do it? how does he convince republican house members to quit their jobs and give up their paychecks?

Nathaniel is, of course, correct, and if anyone thinks 10,000 separate election jurisdictions will simply decide to violate their own state and local laws and not hold elections because President Trump says so, you have never talked to a county clerk.
If Trump issued an executive order today canceling the 2026 election, it would still happen. The president has no involvement in the running of elections, which is done by states.
Trump says a lot of deranged shit, but, per this Reuters article — and the threats of invoking the Insurrection Act in Minnesota this morning — he is very clearly exploring how to cancel the midterms.

I will reiterate my controversial take on this that Congressional pay is way too low, and the only way to combat this is to raise it by like 3-4x.

I'm a successful lawyer with a varying income and in a typical month, I make more money than my congressperson.

I could not afford two households.
Rep. Roger Williams defends members of Congress trading stocks: "I think we gotta be careful that we don't limit Congresspeople to where they can do nothing ... from a financial standpoint, it's not easy being up in Congress."

The defense team presses Lairmore on whether the sandwich really 'exploded.' They return to the photo of the sandwich and wrapper on the ground.

"That sandwich hasn't exploded at all, has it?" defense asks.

"It looks like a little bit is coming out towards the bottom," Lairmore replies.

My kid drove off with her keys in the house once. Discovered she didn't have them with her after she made a stop for coffee.
Today I learned, through an unfortunate chain of events, that it’s possible to start a car with the keys on the roof, have the keys stay on the roof for five miles, ask “what’s that clunk” as they fall off, continue for a further 20 miles, then find you can’t lock your car and it won’t restart.

Sorry, no: Lawyers who defend stripping birthright citizenship from 150,000 infants a year deserve to have that held against them. Forever.

We should shame every lawyer who defends this egregiously unconstitutional cruelty. They are a stain on the legal profession.

"Chicago Pope" is like a 1994 SNL sketch. Airs at 12:20am, the only gag is that Chris Farley has a mustache and is doing a big accent. David Spade and the guest host (Joe Mantegna) keep breaking during it.

Today’s a good day to remember that outdoor tornado sirens are NOT meant to be heard indoors.

This is why it’s important to have a way to receive alerts on your phone (a weather radio works great too!)

FEMA’s app, along with local tv station weather apps, will send you warnings.

Roughly 98 percent of U.S. voters used paper ballots in 2024.

NINETY-EIGHT PERCENT.

They're just making shit up to create an argument to further restrict and attempt to control our election systems.
Tulsi Gabbard: "Electronic voting systems have been vulnerable to hackers for a very long time and vulnerable to exploitation to manipulate the results of the votes being cast, which further drives forward your mandate to bring about paper ballots across the country."
