There is no drawdown. There is no retreat. ICE is just redistributing their assets to better avoid accountability.
The same day DHS announced the surge would end in Minnesota, ICE activity increased in small towns
The less densely populated areas outside the Twin Cities make it harder for protesters and observers to organize.

i think jesse jackson was one of the most important american political figures of the post-war era and i think that his 1984 and 1988 campaigns for the democratic nomination still have a great deal to teach about forging a path to a more egalitarian world. RIP.

CNN confirms what MSNBC reported live a few hours ago: DOJ is surveilling Dem lawmakers when they go to the DOJ to search unredacted Epstein files.
CNN: "Another photograph - these are notes AG Bondi brought to the hearing today. This shows a list of Rep. Jayapal's search history. Lawmakers are allowed to go to a DOJ facility to search unredacted files. We learned from this photo that the searches are apparently being tracked & read by the DOJ"

Not sure if this is the case but holy shit was it the case with Jan 6 when EVERYONE agreed it was one of the worst things Ever and then Dems… let millions of people just lose interest in a matter of weeks
Sadly, this is why Democratic leaders needed to act when the iron was hot — to lead, get out on the streets, and mobilize public opinion.

It may now be that their moment has passed and the public has moved on. If so, what a shame; what a lost opportunity.
Sometimes very hard not to feel like the rest of the country has abandoned Minnesota. We STILL have ICE everywhere. Our schools, businesses, and economy are in profound crisis. But without Bovino here throwing tear gas, much of the country seems to not care at all what’s being done to us.

There are several throughlines in the Epstein saga. One is the community of elite child rapists and sex pests. Another is the weak narcissistic thirst for proximity to power and influence and celebrity. But another is official hubris: how offended Top People are that we question how they Do Things.

The pressure not to speak to politics at the Olympics is always immense and it’s a very big deal whenever anyone does this.
Team USA Curler Rich Ruohonen:
"We'd be remiss if we didn't at least mention what's going on in Minnesota...I am a lawyer, as you know, and we have a constitution... and what's happening in Minnesota is wrong. There's no shades of gray. It's clear."

Like 75% of the US Olympic curlers are from Minnesota. A lot of them curl out of two clubs in Saint Paul, one club is in Frogtown, a neighborhood that has been very heavily targeted by ICE. These curlers are good neighbors.
US Olympic Curling Team member speaks out against ICE:

"I'm proud to represent Team USA. But we'd be remiss if we didn't mention what's going on in Minnesota and what a tough time it's been. What's happening is wrong. There's no shades of gray."

This is an important point about what we do. Whistles are not a universal tool. Some communities want them, some do not. Some orgs within communities disagree. We are not means testing OR gatekeeping the whistles, but we are getting consent from orgs before using their info on whistles.
The great thing about having romance authors on a project is that we tend to operate under rules of consent. If people don't want whistles, we don't send to them. We reach out to every rapid response # and ask for consent to use their numbers before putting them on whistles.

i think this more than anything is what miller wants. vast detention camps with all of the suffering and death that means.
ICE has now spent over half a BILLION dollars just on purchasing warehouses around the country to convert into detention camps.

If these mega-camps are utilized to the full capacity ICE intends, they'll be the largest prisons in the country, with little real oversight. www.ajc.com/politics/202...
