Brown has over 1,200 cameras and it wasn’t enough because cameras are a security blanket we’ve all been sold. They don’t prevent crimes and they barely solve crimes but in the meantime surveillance companies got rich and no one had to address the societal root causes of crime and violence.

FOUR new deaths in ICE detention. That puts the total this year at 30 people dead; the highest in ICE's history and worse than even during the COVID years.

It's clear that the system is breaking down. Many of these are preventable deaths.
In the 90 minutes since I posted this, I've gotten two more death notifications.

ICE has a responsibility to take care of these people, something they are clearly disregarding. This is beyond horrifying. We must ensure dignity and humanity for detained people in this country.
Within 15 minutes today, I got two back-to-back notifications of deaths at ICE facilities.

28 people have died in ICE custody since Trump took office. These facilities are overcrowded & are putting their own profits over health and safety. We need oversight & accountability NOW.

The fact that it was necessary for someone to introduce a War Powers Resolution to try and force the President to *cease* with belligerent hostilities toward another state that had *already* passed the threshold of acts of war is itself indicative of how broken the US political system is.

New @theintercept.com: Georgia was supposed to kill Stacey Humphreys last night. But his execution was abruptly called off by the clemency board after its newest member was exposed as the DA's victim advocate at Humphreys's trial.

Another disaster. This one has actual harmful consequences for trans kids and their families.
Under the proposed rule issued by the Trump Administration today, any Medicare- or Medicaid-participating hospital would be barred from providing gender-affirming care to *any child*, even if the care is not paid for by Medicare or Medicaid.

By this standard which nobody actually adheres to Jews would be precluded from identifying as Zionist because of what Zionism means to every Palestinian on the planet. Is this standard reciprocal or do are there competing claims on the basis of standpoint which need to be independently interrogated?
I'll say it again: if any other ethnic or religious minority said "please don't use this particular term or chant, you might not have bad intentions but it is deeply racist and threatening to us", the reaction would be mortified apology.

Reagan funded and armed death squads, left Americans to die during the AIDS crisis, destroyed the economic tools that built the 20th century, his allies committed treason in 1980 (at the bare minimum, above that Reagan might have been involved) and pioneered "own the libs" politics.
The presidency once served as a reminder of our common humanity. Ronald Reagan described its purpose as building "a nation composed of good and decent people."
