Fairly sure it’s unintentional, but the end date on this mug being sold by the Smithsonian does make it sound a little like they’re saying America dies in 2026…

Given that he was actually Johan Sibelius, why do we call him "Jean Sibelius"? Is there a specific reason? I mean, was that his personal preference? Seems unlikely for so Finn-coded a composer.

So many people have told me they've read Witsh in just one or two days — some even in one sitting! 📚

Obviously, as a writer it's amazing to hear that someone has enjoyed your work so much as to be totally engrossed in it.

Interesting feature on folktale research in New Scientist which unexpectedly speaks to both the book I’m getting ready to inflict on the world and the current state of affairs. Stories are everything. www.newscientist.com/article/mg26...

I was very annoyed at not winning the big penis prize (due to my penis size being rejected by the judges for some reason) but now the big penis prize winner has given me the big penis prize so now everyone knows I have the big penis.

There was once a guy on Twitter who, to all appearances, had devoted his entire life to getting angry about my love of trees. I imagined him at home, punching a wall after seeing me post a tree photo. “AAAAGH,” he’d yell. “This would never have happened if that fucker didn’t love trees so much!”
It seems far too many people regard finding things to be offended about as their chosen form of creative expression. You’ve almost got to admire the dedication to their art that manages to be annoyed at pictures of trees.

I can’t shake the feeling it’s Friday today. I thought it was Friday when I woke up and I’ve just done a thing that was a To Be Done on Friday thing. Getting ahead of myself! This week just feels like it has been going on for way too long long for it to be only Thursday. It is Thursday, right??

They aren't specialists in violence they're just dicks the government gave badges to, don't mythologize being a thug because you're scared of loud noises
It’s worth considering that an overnight dismantling of ICE in 2029 would release into the wild a whole herd of specialists in violence with scant other marketable skills.

Hm. Funnily enough we were talking about this the other day.
The next big step to encouraging violence in the name of Christianity was probably 853 when the Saracens were threatening Rome and Pope Leo IV was like “if you die defending Rome and Christianity in this battle you will immediately go to heaven, no matter who you are”
