I want Democratic politicians who sound like Mamdani, not like Newsom.
This isn't housing policy per se, but in a city where infant care averages $26k a year, universal child care would function as a massive, de facto housing subsidy—freeing up roughly $2,100 a month for rent.

More politicians need to grasp this: when it comes to "affordability," it's all connected.
Why universal child care is closer than ever in New York
One of Zohran Mamdani’s most expensive ideas has surprising early momentum.

And yes, it's reasonable to ask what Putin could possibly have on him that would enable such coercive power. But it doesn't take a lot of imagination to come up with an answer.
It's not that hard folks. Putin ordered Trump to destroy the U.S. from the inside. And that is precisely what he is doing.

American Indians are getting a doubly raw deal during the immigration crackdown. They are being detained and denied their lawful status by ICE. And, at the same time, scholars like Wurman, Lash, and Barnett are rewriting their history and sovereign status to deny 14A citizenship to others.
Peter Yazzie, a Navajo man, was asked by ICE agents to prove he was a US citizen. He produced both US and Navajo IDs. They didn't care. www.azcentral.com/story/news/p...

For @msnownews.bsky.social, I wrote an article about how ICE Watch is grounded in sociological theories of violence prevention.

The reality is that most men will only commit public violence in extremely specific scenarios and ICE Watch disrupts the conditions necessary for escalation.
Opinion | I'm a Minneapolis sociologist who studies violence. Here's how ICE observers are helping.
Research into how violence occurs shows that disapproval from the people around you can help reduce it.

In Trump's America, if you are a fraudster, pedophile, insurrectionist, drug trafficker, or neo-nazi, you get a pardon.

But if you're an elected leader who speaks out against the Trump Administration, you get investigated.

This is not justice.
