Your local librarian here to say that it’s great if you read lots of books this year, alright if you read barely anything, that audiobooks, romance and graphic novels are all valid formats and genres, and that some authors suck but we’re still not stopping you from reading them.

You know the thing about Jimmy Carr? I flip-flop on my opinion of him. He's done some shady shit in the name of profit, and he often makes inappropriate jokes; but I do also think he's genuinely kind in his way.

Me, a week ago: I am sure 6-7 annoys parents, but children have always constructed a shared language outside of adult society. This is necessary! Good for them!

Been watching the OG Star Trek for the first time and I'm surprised by two things:
1. Kirk is nothing like the lurid horn dog some media portray him as, instead being an honor-bound workaholic that's married to his job.
2. All the Kirk x Spock shipping Boomers did was 1000% justified oh mai gooood

After talking to my SiL I thought we were on a similar page about how shitty ai is. And then I heard her telling our niece to just use chat got to research the schools she wants to go to since Google is nothing but ads.

Heated Rivalry is the most accurate adaptation I’ve ever seen and I’m blown away that they pulled it off. Great job Canada, can’t wait for the next season!

yesterday i watched the X-Files episode that is basically The Thing but but in 1/3rd the time and no special effects and it's really fun, that's the sort of thing i miss from having tv shows with longer runs. being able to do what feels like in-universe fanfic like that. it's just neat
