I would love to have a discussion with Jake Tapper about the history of the term "concentration camp" and its usage. It would do so much good if he would actually address this head on.
God the gall of @jaketapper.bsky.social lecturing that Minneapolis small business owner about the meaning of the word "concentration camp" while people are being crammed into poorly resourced buildings by the thousands and shuttled off never to be heard from again

we are in an unprecedented untenable situation: wanton destruction of federal public health apparati (already reduced by biden), on top of a precarious, ever consolidating for-profit “care” system that’s been inching toward collapse for yrs as insurance rates soar—& you won’t help prevent illness? 🤨

I wonder why NIH director Russ Vought made this decision?
NEW: Another NIH institute director hasn't been renewed — the director of NIAMS (arthritis, musculoskeletal and skin diseases institute).

That leaves a whopping 15 of 27 institutes and centers without a permanent director.

when even those supposedly on the left are participating in a taboo, you must ask: who does it serve? & thus, how does my complicity contribute? how does this system, these power structures align with my values? what would it mean to make a different choice? to mask up even when it is not required?
normalize respirators in your daily life. when you do, when you see the choice to use a personal air filter as more akin to sunglasses (worn by all, often for fashion regardless of ocular welfare) than, say, a cast (indicative of active health concerns, often not a choice), all around you benefit.

stigmatizing (or making illegal) tools that allow one maintain the health they have—from masks to vaccines to food & water regulations etc—is a useful device for the fascist; a sick and disabled population is not only easier to control, but easier to further marginalize, to disappear.

gratified to see two respirators on the helpers in this photo; an accurate model of adept community care. passing infections around is not the way we build the movement we need. wearing a respirator is a simple action that goes a long way in strengthening us all.

In Gaza, Israel takes truckloads of Palestinian bodies for DNA testing, to make sure they are not Israeli. They seldom return them. Mary Turfah examines what they are doing with the dead, how it structures Israeli power, and why they get away with it.

as a lupus patient who relies on hydroxychloroquine, the stigma on these medications has been and continues to be terrible for those of us who rely on them. so unfortunate, unnecessary.
I feel bad for ivermectin, which genuinely is amazing stuff that won a deserved Nobel Prize but is now forever associated with crank antiscience
