And I must say, as an autistic person who has experienced this MANY times throughout my life... being told you "should have known" something you literally didn't know is one of the most exasperating and defeating things to hear.

@scalzi.com I'm curious to get your thoughts on the propriety (or lack thereof) of an author choosing to interact with someone who posts something on social media that they did not like the author's book.

Live look in to the Senate Democratic Caucus this morning.

Surprising literally no lawyer who actually knows anything about the Supreme Court, yet still surprising every member of the general public.
BREAKING: The Supreme Court DENIES former county clerk Kim Davis's request for the justices to take up her longshot bid to overturn 2015's Obergefell v. Hodges marriage equality decision. No justice even writes about the request.

Fuck this shit. 40 days we have held on here for what. For WHAT. Millions still kicked off insurance with nothing better than a pinky swear they can vote on it a month from now? Chickenshit.
Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

I don’t know how many times I’ve watched this video.

I don’t know how we’ve gotten to the point where men in full balaclavas can abduct daycare teachers while they’re watching children.

But I do know that this isn’t sustainable. Abolish ICE. There is no way to reform this.

I'm getting absolutely hammered with Democrat fundraising emails today. People voted because they're angry at Trump and hate what's happening in their neighborhoods. Not because you jabronis did anything. Send a fucking email JUST ONCE where you don't ask for money. One fucking time

I would object less to this administration if it wasn't so tacky AF even by my upper Midwesterner standards.

One of our country's greatest war criminals just died, the president is arguing with himself about whether or not to let 40 million people starve, and there is an actual courtroom drama about a five dollar footlong.

How are any of us supposed to maintain emotional regulation.

Minnesota (where we are) has at least told us we have benefits through the 17th of this month so far, but if we don't have anything beyond that, things are going to get pretty tight. WIC is a third of our monthly grocery budget.

I work full time and my wife works about 40-50% time (hours vary).
Do I have WIC benefits this month?

No idea.

The state office hasn't communicated, the feds certainly haven't.

It's certainly telling that a country in the midst of a supposed "birth rate crisis" can't be bothered to tell us whether or not we get to feed our kids

The cruelty is the point.

They're just cartoon evil.
The USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse.
I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email

Every lawyer in America who is not currently bungling a DOJ case for this administration is nodding right now going "yes, and?" because, and I cannot stress this enough, YOU SHOULD NOT DISCUSS THE FACTS OF ONGOING LITIGATION EVER.
I just had a Katie Porter moment with congressional candidate Kat Abughazaleh. The interview lasted 3 minutes.

A lot of Americans would love to talk about kitchen table issues, unfortunately the kitchen table is being used to barricade the front door because ICE is trying to illegally enter private property to arrest and detain them.

Me: look, you always tell us that when people are complaining, they really just want to be heard and validated and not have me try to fix the problem, right?

HR: ... sigh, it may have been a mistake to assign you to Technical Support.

These fucking people
Trump: "I don't think we're necessarily going to ask for a declaration of war, I think we're just gonna kill people that are bringing drugs into our country. We're going to kill them. They're going to be, like dead."

The Inspector General system is basically broken now. Most IGs have been fired, most positions remain vacant. Those who remain or would take the job pose no risk to holding the regime accountable.
Congress added more barriers to Trump firing IGs after his first term. He just ignored them.

I keep saying “it’s almost impossible to explain how corrupt this is” but then something like this happens that’s even MORE corrupt:
President Trump is demanding that the Justice Department pay him about $230 million in compensation for the federal investigations into him.

Whether he gets paid will ultimately be up to DOJ's second-in-command, who was recently his personal lawyer.

This man's brain is just moldering tapioca.
Trump: "Buttigieg spent billions fixing the air traffic control. They used copper wire going into glass wire. Any union electrician here or any non-union electrician would say you can't hook copper into glass. It doesn't work. They spent billions, turned on the system & it was stone cold blank"

I know folks have been litigating the value of these protests all week, and I would remind those who have been eyerolling that one VERY important part of mass dissent is making it impossible to round up all the dissenters.

They see the crowds and have to reevaluate gulag plans
You know the mass protests work because Team Trump has been freaking out about them
