New pronoun labeller just dropped! Instructions are in the thread and as this is something that becomes more useful the more people are using it, plz do pass it along
The pronoun labeler, which was by far the most useful labeler on the site, was deleted by its creator. But thanks to @ripperoni.com there’s a new one available. I highly recommend it. It’s a great way to share your pronouns or see someone else’s pronouns at a glance.

I’m finally reading BLOOD IN THE MACHINE about the Luddite uprisings and what’s striking is that the objection was a moral one. It was wrong to destroy communities for a few guys to have more money.

They didn’t agree with the factory owners vision of the future, and they wanted an equal say in it.
More people should listen to @tressiemcphd.bsky.social

When people say AI is inevitable, let them know the future isn’t settled.

just wanna say anyone posting “if you die in Canada, you die in real life” jokes right now (also generally, but especially right now) you’re an irony-poisoned piece of shit and you should take this opportunity to do some self-reflection and fix your heart before the rot takes root.

In 2016, millennials "splurge" on fancy coffee and avocado toast.

In 2026, millennials and Gen Z are "splurge" on gut-healthy juices and rotisserie chicken.

In 2036, millennials, Gen Z, and Gen Alpha "splurge" on microplastic-free water and instant ramen.

Lots of people don’t think it was that bad. It was.

For me, being a girl added onto it. The feminism of “you can be anything” actually morphed into “if you want to be a teacher or nurse, you’re actually a gender traitor and you need to aim higher” (hiiiii women in STEM). It was real bad, folks!!!
You may not believe that pervasive cultural sneering at the humanities and those deemed Bad at Math was ever *that* bad.

Well, all I can say is it really was that bad in my experience - and I also had great parents, lots of resources, and a naturally massive ego to keep me going. Many don’t.

No son, they are not "magically delicious." The workers made them delicious. This is a slogan meant to mystify the social conditions of labor

I'm not a parent but I'm finding the replies and quote posts of this skeet (sorry, not sorry) very wholesome and hilarious.
always so funny to me when people are like “how am I supposed to explain Gay to my kids?” my kid asks me way harder shit all the time. “why did they build the road this way? why are some people bad?” I don’t know. please ask me about Gay

yeah, this is absolutely a reason why there are a lot more gleeful predictions about AI taking over all creative work than there are about it taking over sports
This too is Gender. Football is a Man Thing (vital), while many other creative pursuits are Woman Coded (frivolous, disposable, not Really Important).

this loses a little something when it's not sung in a cold church by a dude in a weird faux-operatic with the organist missing the cue and coming in around the second "Christ"
Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.
