I got "just bc everything comes easily to you doesn't give you permission not to try" as I'm trying the hardest I possibly can, barely keeping my head above water, nothing feeling very easy.

I didn't know I have significant learning disabilities until I was 34, so I get those same hives myself 😂

I got the “you’re book smart; your brother is street smart” from my parents and it was extremely clear which was the actual “good” kind of smart. Then I got the “you’re too smart for [pink collar/non-uni job]” talk from every other adult around and ended up totally fucked lol

I grew up in the late 90s, early 00s and my dad used to go “Oh Em Gee” because it had just gotten popular to type “omg” on flip phones and MSN so he took to using the acronym out loud and it’s good to know the Dad Cringe (affectionate) never dies, only evolves lol

my "worst" example is having to explain to my friend's kid (who was like a niece to me) who was already pretty anxious generally what an Amber Alert was for. she'd asked before what LGBTQ was (it was on the cover of one of my books) and it was a BREEZE by comparison.

why do you need to observe your house if you're not in it. you are giving yourself an opt-in mental illness. no one has to live like this
