i get a lot of publicity emails about books, and the biggest difference between books that lean literary and books that are firmly genre is that the literary emails lead with praise & blurbs, sometimes there isn't even a summary included. what is the book about??? who cares. it is ~illuminating~

It is really frustrating to have so many scams specifically focusing on book clubs, because this used to be a nice fun thing - a book club reading your book and asking you to zoom in, or just say hi, or maybe they were curious about something. Now I have to be like, is this a weird ChatGPT scam.
I keep hearing from friends getting confused/caught up in bookclub promotion scams and wasting time because of them.

IME, a book club doesn't need to contact you to choose your book for their club. Any book club that contacts me, from a group I don't already know, wanting anything more then to say-
