This smells distinctly like collider bias and/or selection bias and/or regression to the mean... You simply can't select teen prodigies, and world class athletes rom databases, and go run regressions without serious consideration of the selection process!

sad news that Iain Douglas-Hamilton has died. A great and wonderful champion of elephants over a long life! He has changed the world for the better, especially how people view elephants.
To remember William Bond, you could listen to his powerful talk on behalf of grasses! It is a seminal lesson in savanna ecology. Personally, I also find it nice to hear his voice.

I'm very sad to say William Bond, of the University of Cape Town & Fellow of the Royal Society (@royalsociety.org ), has passed away. It is a great loss. He was an enthusiastic ecologist and a critical thinker. I learned a lot, and I still had a lot to learn from him. RIP.ย ๐Ÿ˜ข

Use coal for over two centuries. Close the last plant in 2024 and claim 'climate leadership'. Drill the North Sea for oil and gas to near-depletion. Then announce a 'ban' with relaxations to drill more in existing fields. No one does 'climate leadership' like the UK
Not all sexual swellings signal fertility. Some signal strategy. In our new Current Biology paper, we show how gelada females โ€œfake itโ€ during male takeoversโ€”and why it works.
