#NovemberWorldbuilders 18: Sixty years later, every neighbourhood in Bir Accio has public fountains and baths. The canals might be brackish, but they're clean, and greenery is abundant, even in the city. Some houses even have their own indoor plumbing, just like you'd see in the Capital. (2/2)

#NovemberWorldbuilders 18: Like any Bir Accian of her generation, Nia grew up thinking of water as plentiful. When the Empire arrived, their first task after expelling the Nivoréan royals was the construction of the aqueduct and the training of Biran water mages in desalination techniques. (1/2)

Serara's not a good swimmer even though she's lived next to a river her entire life. She prefers bathing in tubs. Hot baths = 💜

Zaki's an excellent swimmer. Given the opportunity, he'll swim as part of his daily training. He also enjoys relaxing baths.

Cyn's relationship with water is pragmatic: It's there, it's wet, and it's hopefully clean enough to drink.
He might even have a little wash.

Jack- His matron Goddess is not just a goddess of love. She has also some influence over the sea. The beach is a temple.

Charlie- Loves water sports as much as land sports. The beach is so fun!

Helena- Can't even swim. (Good thing her GF is a mermaid😆)

Sed's race, Nek'tun, have an ingrained dislike for bodies of water, especially the larger they get, a very dangerous place to be on their homeworld. Despite never having set paw there, Sed is not fond of activities like swimming or boating.

MC1 loves the sea. He spent his early childhood in a coastal village. He'd sneak down to a wee cave overlooking the sea to draw birds and washed-up sea critters. It was his secret place where he could be himself. (Wannabe artist in a warrior society. He's not a happy kid😅) 1/

Silver avoids entering water as much as she can. She's never learned to swim and has heard plenty of drowning warnings. During book 3, when parts of the city flood, she sticks to the rooftops.

Maris is an oceanic planet, so water is woven into the culture.

Gielle was a fearless child, and she took every opportunity to reach the sea.

Even when it meant discovering the passages fiddling the palace and sneaking away from her handmade.

Alstair grew up b/w the wild Wacial River & the reliable southern fork. He has a healthy respect for the power of water & knows how to approach/judge its approachability & how to swim.
To Bast, water is just an aspect of the environment. All to be respected if oft overlooked

Both Lex and Daemrin know how to swim. She used to swim in the lakes and rivers by her family's summer villa in the countryside, and he took mandatory swimming lessons as a teen, as part of his combat training. Neither of them think too much about water generally, though. #NovemberWorldbuilders

Wren and Spencer both know how to swim and aren't afraid or water or anything. I don't think either has any particular affinity for it either. It fun to splash in on a hot day. Boats are a handy mode of transport. Otherwise, they don't give it much thought. #Wrencer

Dorilian lives on an island so his relationship with water is lifelong. He can swim, is unafraid of being in water, and has used many kinds of water transport.
Hans also grew up on the ocean and is comfortable around water.

Morgan is the one with the most associations with water.

Aside from the base link of having a water aspect in his DNA (shares with his sister, gets from his father), he also lives on an island for like a decade.

Tal and Lily are *not* natives of the Boiling Seas, but they grew up in the cities - swimming's never been a priority. Max *did* grow up on the Seas... where swimming will kill you.

They've become vaguely decent sailors, all three of them, by necessity and for fun.

She's reasonably used to water. She can swim and row a boat (mostly in a lake), and she has been on boats many times. She has caught a fish once in a while. She knows how to find water if needed.
She is somewhat useful with navigation, but lacks ocean specific skills.

Neither Ronan nor Pyra has seen water bigger than a river (until they cross the ocean mid-story that is) but while Ronan learned to swim in the City swimming pool Pyra's village has a swimming pond, and she's had some trips to 'ruin lake' which was once a big building.

Fox has a slightly complicated relationship with water.

Her powers are fire-based, but that doesn't make water a problem. Often quite the contrary, as water is excellent at absorbing heat, and she sometimes needs to dissipate a lot of it in a way that won't hurt anyone🧵
