I've said before and I'll say again:

The entire, modern tech business model is built on the drug-dealer business model that GenX and late millennials learned in D.A.R.E.:

"The first one is free, kid. Come back when you're hooked to pay the real price."

Social media, Uber, AirBnB, Waymo, AI...

"Generative AI can be a good tool, it just has to be used properly"

Yeah that's exactly what CEOs said, that's why we're running "perfect" OSes with 30+% vibe code and have genAI dubs now

“[Eventually] humanities depts will be forced to accept AI-authored assignments, as part of revised university policy to cooperate with these billionaires. It's already happening, and our response needs to be decisive. Because our students' ability to *think* is at stake.”

really important thread ⬇️
An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.

Let me give some insight on this, as a producer in the dub industry who worked with major streamers, who's witnessed first-hand where this push for AI is coming from.

tl;dr: Only CEOs want this. Tell them how much you hate it. Be loud, email, call, @, post. You will kill this.

🧵⬇️
The only thing less human than these AI dub performances is the decision to sign off on them

A company this big can pay human actors a decent wage, not produce slop that intentionally removes the human element.

Stephen Miller is now arguing that assimilation is fundamentally impossible and that certain cultures are not compatible with Western civilization

Having seen this, I’ve got to say, the KPop Demon Hunter fans need to re-discover Final Fantasy X-2, where you play a girl band who changes fighting classes by changing dresses and has no less than two concerts on the way to saving the world from a giant weapon.
Okay, the crowd going nuts like someone just scored a touchdown at the Super Bowl all *through* the KDH performance is a hell of a thing to see hear/see:

almost every novelist you read who's not from the airport fiction or bestseller sections is working a full on day job, including multi-award winners and absolute legends, or they have a spouse or trust that supports them. virtually across the board. just normalize in your mind that's how it works.
I know we know this, but authors need to get better at talking about how they actually make their money. Stop pretending it's from the books.

I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

This topic is always funny cause it boils down to people being incredibly pedantic about definitions. I will say it was one of many arguments that remind me to make sure everyone's using the same definition for a term cause otherwise it create a dumb easily avoidable problem.
jrpg isn't a real genre. its a useful shorthand and comparative term (i.e. if you like tales games you'll probably like falcom games) but when more academically discussing things like whether the genre has "evolved" enough or not it becomes tautologically useless

If you're new to cooking or don't trust yourself to recognize a bad AI recipe, for the love on god, do not just use random recipes from random profiles. Find trustworthy sites and creators (Serious Eats, NYT Cooking, J. Kenji Lopez-Alt, Alton Brown) and search their archives for what you need.
NEW: AI “recipe slop” is overrunning search and social. Food creators say Google’s AI Overviews and glossy fake food pics are drowning out real, tested recipes — collapsing traffic and setting home cooks up for disaster, especially this Thanksgiving.

DOGE was created for data theft and infrastructure dismantling and it wildly succeeded on both counts within the first few weeks of its existence. It will take a generation to rebuild what it destroyed and the breach of data is unprecedented.
Bye bye, “DOGE”.

It no longer exists as a “centralized entity”, according to the Office of Personnel Management.

Taking the totality of spoken words from Major and Minor characters will create a far bigger discrepancy imo than just doing major characters or even required dialogue from characters. I wonder what the dataset looks like when it's broken down further. Blame FFV for this line of reasoning.
