I dunno if $125 is a good price for that, but it's funny how I instantly sneer at that fucking orange Zapper.
i just bought this at a vintage store for $125.

I still can't get over how Vecna is the Big Bad of Stranger Things. He's such a bland nothing of a villain that I always assumed he was the stopgap between the Demogorgons and some kind of bigger, more interesting Stephen King-caliber threat, but, nope, he's just a dude made out of dicks.

today's musical theater parlor game:

Assign a composer/lyricist (individual or team), retired or dead, to adapt a book/play/movie into a stage musical (that they didn't actually do, natch).

Feel free to provide a title and/or year of composition.

I’m a sucker for in-universe stuff, and I’m so happy that these fans did SUCH a good job of doing justice to an idea as good as an in-universe oral history of humanity’s first battle with The Borg, assembled from 30+ years’ worth of interviews with characters from all across the franchise.

Star Trek fans hungry for something to read over the holiday weekend should give this surprisingly-fantastic free eBook about the Battle of Wolf 359 a try.

It’s not only one of the best pieces of fanfic I’ve ever read, but it also does an incredible job of uniting all of Star Trek into one story:

America, there's something you should know.

The top three kinds of books that young people (under 25) offer to sell me on Dec. 26 are:

- "Chicken Soup for the _____"

- "Oh, the Places You'll Go"

- Books of New Yorker cartoons

I'm just saying. Keep it in mind for graduations and birthdays, too.

I’m abso-fucking-lutely fine with Avatar having no cultural impact if that means it sticks to just knocking out a new movie every few years rather than trying to insert itself into every empty crevice of every human being’s life all day every day for the rest of time.
People say “Avatar had no cultural impact” as though teaching a whole generation about the sacrifice of our brave boys who died fighting on Pandora doesn’t count as a cultural impact

Still can’t believe this the only other time the full-sized Falcon prop was ever put back together, and even then just the side facing the camera (pretty much replicating the half-Falcon built for the first film)

Huh, I don’t remember the NES Advantage still being much of a thing in 1990 (a year after the Power Glove farted up store shelves.)

Amazing: “But the Kennedy Center is not the current owner of trumpkennedycenter.org or trumpkennedycenter.com — because back in August, comedy writer Toby Morton registered those two domain names, expecting Trump and his allies to add Trump’s name to the D.C. landmark.”

When cream filling is labeled as “creme” because there’s no dairy (it’s usually just a mix of vegetable shortening and sugar) and when ice cream has so little actual cream/butterfat in it that companies are forced to label it “frozen dessert”
What are your favorite gimmicky food marketing terms?
I get a kick out of places/experiences that become adjectives, like "Carnival", "Boardwalk", "State Fair", "Backyard BBQ", etc

On the hunt for a good, mindless podcast-listening game for the holidays and spun up Mario Galaxy 1 in the Switch 3D All-Stars collection - I forgot how there’s no camera controls and how much of that game relies on motion controls. (I forgot that it’s almost 20 years old!)

Welcome to SURREAL WEEK, where calories don't count, drinking is governed by airport rules, no one cares how you're dressed, and marathoning old movies is the norm. You have until January 5th when doing absolutely fucking nothing becomes embarrassing again. Do nothing with it wisely.
