Saw a reference to A Christmas Story and it reminded me that its final scene is probably my favorite shot of any Christmas movie. Warm when it’s cold outside. Kids happy, warm, fed and in bed. Quiet and enjoying the snow fall by the light of the tree. To me, this is the perfect end to Christmas

New Year’s Day has been a family tradition ever since I was a kid. My parents don’t even take down the folding table during the week between Christmas and New Year’s. It’s like squeezing the last bit of family time and time away from work out of the year
