hi i'm going issue a challenge for 2026! if you have $20+ that you can comfortably spare at some point, commission an artist to illustrate something for you. a calligraphy version of an inside joke. a caricature of a relative. your pet but as the king of spades idk. spot art for your website. &c &c

Okay, this is behind a paywall and Wired has a great reputation, but this feels a little "Jews run the banks" to me. Blaming a marginalized group for the rampant cruelty and bigotry of Silicon Valley instead of the majority group that has been going full steam ahead on transphobia and antiblackness.

good morning. i've been feeling a bit sick and unwell, my own fault, bc we got really delicious korean food that has ingredients i'm a little allergic to (wheat, dairy, garlic). it was worth it but also i am a baby.

how are you? what's good?? i'm playing "story of seasons grand bazaar"

this has such an LLM whiff. "chatGPT, please brainstorm some contrarian talking points" "chatGPT, what do i write about when i peaked as a 24-year-old libertarian"

like, to put a fine point on it, this research is something people SHOULD care about who are invested in LLMs doing well at any point. i was surprised to see that @arstechnica.com's "AI beat" is just press releases and gossip. that can often be fine!! but engaging, constructive stuff is right there!
new from me: a new preprint (meaning not peer reviewed) literature review and analysis of LLM research. these scientists split the observed errors into granular categories that they hope will help others continue studying the errors and mitigating them. www.popularmechanics.com/science/a703...

supportive AI journalism is starting to remind me of jury selection for death penalty cases. the people who will self select for that job are already ethically cooked.

in general -- following developers you like is a great way to help continue to fund them. i LOVE crowdfunding as a way to preorder a game from someone whose work i love and whom i trust to deliver. (like five of my backs are just @hanakogames.bsky.social, the best crowdfunder in the game imo)

stoked to back this game (i will follow meghna jayanth into hell) and their team also has cute social goals -- check out the kickstarter.
💫 2 STRETCH GOALS ACHIEVED 💫

hard to be further left than me, and i love technology so much. OP (cait) didn't explicitly mention the leftism of science funding so i will do that haha. the tech i cover is like, professors from 5 universities colliding particles together over 3 months at CERN. funded by MANY publics
every leftist i know is very excited about technology but unfortunately they want tech that improves society and makes people's lives easier and that's harder for wealthy prdophiles to build a trillion dollar industry bubble around

There is a world changing technological leap happening right now, and it's happening in green energy, and the right is desperately (and unsuccessfully) trying to stop it. But I guess that doesn't count

i love devon! oh wow.

i adopted my bonded pair of cats in 2018, and they are each other's best friend, snuggle buddy, and wrestling playmate. they're so funny and sweet, and mine were also littermates, so they have similar body language at times despite looking very different. love bonded pairs!!
The shelter I volunteer with has a unique adoption situation right now and I'd be so grateful if people could share to anyone they know in Vermont who might be a good fit. This is Devon, and his story is a little complicated so please click this link to find out more! www.hsccvt.org/Cats#sl_embe...
