I love being ace and I love being queer and I love being single and I love having a fucked relationship with gender and I love saying 'i don't care' when people ask my pronouns and I love when all that makes people confused and I love that I don't have to explain any of that to anyone.

GLASHEEN: Antifa is our primary concern right now. That's the most immediate violent threat we're facing

BENNIE THOMPSON: Where is antifa headquartered?

GLASHEEN: ... ... ... we are building out the infrastructure right now

THOMPSON: What does that mean?

We're nearing year end, so let's talk about my 5-Star reads this year:

- Sociopath: A Memoir by Patric Gagne
- Give a Boy a Gun by Todd Strasser
- Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds
- The Bus by Adam Pottle

Yes, there's only 4; I'm a harsh book reviewer.

My kids have measles, there are no toys on the shelves, and I can't afford a steak. But at least there's no sign language interpreter at White House press briefings now.

sometimes I think about the workshop where a poem of mine had a character named “John” and how the entire discussion was about what it meant that a John is a reference to someone who frequents prostitutes

It has to be the 2 legit midnight releases I went to: Pirates of the Caribbean and Twilight. Are they the best movies? No. But there's something *magic* about being a teen in a theater at 12am with all the other fans, sleep deprived, yelling at the screen.

LOTR with a live orchestra was also A++
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.
It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.

Supergirl stands to posit a theorem that I've long believed in and its the idea that infinitely powerful women should be tremendous pieces of trash.

I feel like with this new interpretation of Supergirl, someone like Zod is a WAY more interesting villain for her than Superman.

He's way more convincing to a Kryptonian who actually remembers and mourns Krypton.

AI cannot spiral about its grandmother reading its work and consider burning everything its ever written and also worry that its dad may read that smutty scene it wrote.
One of the many reasons AI can't produce good writing is it can't hate its own writing. It can't think to itself "Maybe I'm illiterate" during the writing process. And that's essential

he's checking it twice,
he's searching his pockets,

and checking the list again,
and making sure the lights are off,
now where's the list?
ok, found it, check again,
wait, did he lock up?
Santa Claus is getting,
too old for this shit.

"One of the biggest problems with religion is that people stubbornly, insistently reduce God to their own size; they imagine that God loves the same people they love, and that God hates the people they hate. This is not just insidious theology; it’s actually idolatry, because people are just… (1/4)

holy. shit. Those of us in the book fight have long argued that those who come for books eventually come for everything else, but I never imagined, not for a goddamn second, that Mahmoud vs Taylor would be used to make sure our children die of preventable diseases. Fucking christ
The Supreme Court just set aside a 2nd Circuit decision upholding New York's requirement that all school students, public and private, obtain certain vaccinations, without any religious exemptions. It orders the 2nd Circuit to reconsider the ruling in light of SCOTUS' LGBTQ school books decision.
