Good thread, and this is a great punchline.
9/🧵 What does this mean for Democratic strategy? All those debates about choosing between identity politics and economic populism? False premise. Young working-class voters with low racial resentment aren't choosing. They're ready for Medicare for All AND Black Lives Matter. Lean into the tide.

My office just uncovered that, buried in their Fall Economic Statement, Ford’s Conservatives are quietly seizing control of Exhibition Place.

These emails reveal that this is an issue of elite impunity, and you are blaming the public? Thats how we got here, man.
It is an absolute moral failing that the American public elected this man. How is this man still in the White House?

It’s incredible that anyone acted like ‘partition’ aka illegal land annexation by an imperialist settler colonial state (Israel) wasn’t the Trump ‘ceasefire’ plan in the first place. How else were we to understand the fact that Israel was resolved not to withdraw?

If you're not familiar, this road is a very short section up to the bridge. Maybe a 3 minute drive. This violence is never about delaying drivers, it's about drivers violently imposing their perceived entitlement over road space.

To address safety issues (bc of drivers) my kids’ school recently changed the pick up process to get rid of the car pick up line entirely.

Caregivers have to park nearby & walk up to the blacktop to get their kids.

It’s calmer, safer, and bikes can still roll right up onto the blacktop.

Only Ontario could have produced Doug Ford, who (especially now that Poilievre's downfall looks ever more likely) is likely to be the figurehead of full-blown Canadian mask-off fascism once he cruises into power on the highway paved for him by Carney

My favourite hotel on earth (at least in Montreal). It is really a brutalist low rise motor hotel high a top of a concrete plinth. It remains gorgeous & perfect 60 years later. Heaven.

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.

Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.

Important to understand this. There's a reasonable chance that your Dem Senator who voted against it and is acting mad now was in on the play. It's the same reason why they scheduled the surrender for AFTER the election this week. They didn't want people pissed at Dems right before an election.
The caucus meeting was just to orchestrate who would fall on the sword but not be up for a vote in 2026.
