It is... not common that you get to see a policy that is such a goddamn slam dunk on all counts but here it is: toll your goddamn CBDs, people.

Imagine if Hochul hadn't been a weirdo and had stuck to the original tolling price.
Year 1 data on congestion pricing in Manhattan…

* Vehicle traffic: -11%
* Foot traffic: +3.4%
* Storefront vacancy: -0.9%
* Pollution: -22%
* Revenue for mass transit: $548M

So YES this has been a huge success.

Here’s the birth of Christ being defiled by masked federal thugs who think terrorizing marginalized people is funny.

A lot of education discourse is at root an inability to decide whether the purpose of our education system is to 1) teach material and measure learning 2) reward students who work hard 3) separate the smart kids (destined for smart guy jobs) from the dumb kids (destined to serve the smart guys)

And we knew this. This wasn't speculation. We studied it, we had the talking points. We trained volunteers to explain this to people. It's not a surprise. Rich people don't flee places with good quality of life when we increase the quality of life. They might try to cheat us, but they don't leave.
NEW: The first two years of Massachusetts' millionaire tax has raised $3 billion more than expected.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

Just a reminder to check for your name in this list of books that OpenAI trained from. If your name is there, they probably owe you several thousand dollars.

OpenAI cried that if everyone eligible author files, the company will go bankrupt, so I'm alerting every author I have ever spoken to.

One of the things about JD Vance is that he is completely 100% aware that what he is doing is evil and has made a deliberate, conscious choice to do evil to get power. He’s not self-deluded or dumb. He hasn’t drunk Kool-Aid. He’s decided to do evil for power.

In May, KY Rep. Brett Guthrie defended OBBB by citing Kentucky Hospital Association saying it "preserves" Medicaid.

With Senate changes, KHA now says it would "devastate" KY, causing hospitals to close & 20K job losses. Guthrie just said it "protects health care for the most vulnerable Americans"

I grew up in rural South Carolina with a single mom who worked multiple jobs. At times, we relied on Medicaid and SNAP—like so many others. My heart breaks for those now wondering if that help will still be there.

Imagine having all that power and choosing to make people’s lives worse.

Shameful.

"The minutiae of the Medicaid policy" - 16-17 million people will lose health insurance in a country where health care costs are ruinous. Many of these are exactly the people Vance claims to represent. But erecting a police state to deport foreigners is more important, I guess.
I’ve warned about the nativist mind virus for many years. They’d destroy the economy, bankrupt the government, shred the Constitution, trample our freedoms, and imprison their own people to get what they want: not just mass deportation, but something more like ethnic cleansing
