If Congress doesn’t extend the Affordable Care Act’s tax credits, 22 MILLION people will see their health care costs explode next year and 4.2 million more could lose their health insurance entirely.

Tell Congress: extend the ACA tax credits permanently!
CALL: Stop Looming Health Care Price Spikes!
On Nov. 1, Affordable Care Act (ACA) marketplaces in most states will begin to open for enrollment for next year. Unless Congress acts, more than 90% of people enrolled in ACA health care plans w...

There is no route out of fascism that involves sacrificing the vulnerable. All that does is tell the fascists that we're willing to turn on each other for the illusion of safety.
A lot of political influencers within the Atlantic/NYT orbit are very, very eager to sell us on the lie that we can get out of fascism by sacrificing trans people.

They will beat that drum even louder as the right weaponizes this tragedy.

They are liars now & they will be liars in the coming days.

there's a certain dark humor in the fact that the administration is treating a dude throwing a sandwich at a cop like a suicide bombing
This is exactly one block from the sandwich throwing incident. The neighborhood is being collectively punished for it.
Police have set up a checkpoint and appear to be stopping every single car on 14th st NW, between W+V, here in northwest DC. Some cars are being pulled over after being stopped.

Hey, so happened with those No Kings protests? Sure seems like right fucking now would be a good time to get in the streets about literally anything happening right now? Weird time to get quiet, especially given how much momentum there was four weeks ago.

Apart from the fact that he is one of the LEAST qualified of the 47 previous office holders to make such a decision, this is absolutely the moves of an authoritarian. Do we still think there’s gonna be an election in 3.5 years? Really, really?
You dont need a scholar of authoritarianism and the military like me to tell you this does not produce good outcomes
All four-star general nominees must now interview with President Trump. The goal is to "ensure they are war fighters first — not bureaucrats,” says the WH.
Some fear it could politicize the general officer corps.

Instead, they are mad that people like the candidate for mayor of NY.

It is not controversial to say people should not be deliberately starved to death. Anyone who considers this truly controversial has lost touch with their humanity and is a danger to others.
I wish it wasn’t considered controversial to say that people should not be starved to death. I wish it wasn’t controversial to say that is unacceptable for all of humanity.

Most of the internet used to be like this. This is actually the default, it took companies enclosing the internet and adding weird, soul-killing incentives to make people behave the way they do now. In a way, there is truly nothing special about Wikipedia except that it survived longer.
“Wikipedia is this economic anomaly. In many ways, it’s sort of magical that people will just volunteer without explicit economic incentives to create artifacts that are meant to share knowledge with everyone in the world”

Either these lawmakers weren’t paying attention when they approved these funds or they don’t care about anything except appealing to their leader, and both make them unfit for office in any kind of functional democracy.
This is such an absurdly insane thing to say:

"You have a preschool program that doesn’t do any preschool funding, all it does is indoctrination of four-year-olds of [critical race theory],” Vought said.

There was no compunction then about the source of the hacks or the collaborator.

“The media” these days is, like, five billionaires. We haven’t enforced anti-monopoly laws. What cowardice? This also serves their ends.
What CBS' disgraceful termination of Stephen Colbert illustrates is how quickly a Republic can fall when the media chooses cowardice instead of courage.
