It really can't be said enough: the goal of the "anti-woke" movement was always to destroy social norms against bigotry. And it worked. And there's a whole lot of purportedly "left" thinkers & commentators who helped it -- indeed, it couldn't have been done without them.

They should feel bad.

it is not sustainable for this nation to alternate between rising fascism and boring lib politics every 4-8 years

even if it doesn't happen now, eventually that switch is gonna get stuck in the "fascist" position

tit for tat can only form a stable equilibrium when the "tat" is guaranteed

Fascinating to compare it to October 7 because, since then, Israel has absolutely demolished its diplomatic standing in the world by targeting civilians and genocidal rhetoric; and judging by the rhetoric the past few days, conservatives risk doing the same.

He was an advocate of violence against his political opponents and took positions like “the civil rights act should be repealed,” “the Jews are replacing white people,” and “Ukraine is an evil country and we should let them die.” Kirk’s entire career played a nontrivial role in getting us here.
I feel like I am taking crazy pills. Charlie Kirk’s ultimate goal, which he said time and time again, would have been the suppression, through threat of violence and the use of state power, of the rights of those he disagreed with, including freedom of expression.

Besides this, there is also a story about a former WH or State Department official saying the people in the boat were migrants. For what it’s worth, local (and independent) media is confirming they were drug smugglers departing from a TdA-controlled area x.com/gbastidas/st...

A core purpose of the occupation is collective punishment of DC simply for being overwhelmingly Democratic, and as a subset of that because it was DC police who responded to defend and re-take the Capitol. That is why they passionately hate DC now more than they did in the first term.
NEW—Earlier this evening agents from ICE/other fed agencies were outside Rhode Island Ave metro in DC asking people exiting the station for their IDs, per someone who experienced it. When the person presented their Real ID license, an agent said that wasn't sufficient. Luckily they had secondary ID.

“This Sydney Sweeney thing” is like 3 tweets and 5 TikToks from random people. The left is not remotely worked up about this.

The right, however, has been frothing about the nonexistent outrage for days — and more prominent outlets are spreading far more radical and troubling messages.
A message I just got from a buddy of mine, who’s a long time Democratic Party campaign consultant: “This Sydney Sweeney thing is the kind of thing that turns men away from our party. It’s why men think our party is weak & insane.”

My response to him? “Fuck yea it is. You are exactly right.”

I'd just like to point out how weird it is that places with hundreds or even thousands of reporters — the NYT, WaPo, CBS, NBC, AP, etc. — are all getting pummeled on every major story by the dozen computerboys at Wired. To fumble the bag this consistently is, at some point, cowardice and a choice.
