I have employed this technique, and it gets me a lot of what I want.
As a VO who also does medical videos I can confirm: also if you’re able to use medical terms very confidently, half the time they’ll assume you’re an doctor/nurse and actually treat you with respect.
This is my number one advice to UK residents if you ever become disabled, by the way. Learn how to channel that BBC English and your doctor will actually give you things you need.

One of the things that's amazing about DS9 is that they understand the Ferengi can be nails on a chalkboard, both to the other characters and the audience, and turn it into an actual thematic keystone. Like "Oh you believe in co-existence with other cultures, how about these awful dudes who suck?!?"
