I need Canadians to think about what is happening here at home. Carney is cutting the very agencies we need more than ever as things erode in the US.

Wake. Up.

Rrrrroll up roll up!

Come see an act where I juggle Mark Carney, Hannah Arendt, Nick Cave, Naomi Klein, and the concept of sovereignty!

Even Hobbes, the most notoriously pro authoritarian government philosopher in history, who thought you had to obey even the worst government because it was better than no government, said that if your government just starts killing you, you don't have a social contact.

You don't have a government.

Drop the names of any Canadian companies you’ve seen working with ICE in the comments.

I’m aware of Gardaworld, Roshel, Hootsuite.

Would love to gather any and all other names.

Chuck, I have terrible news. The feds shot the Baileys. Point-blank range, right in the face. They're gone, Chuck. You let them die. You have the Baileys' blood on your hands.
ICE out of Minnesota NOW.
Breaking News: Federal law enforcement agents shot and killed a person in Minneapolis on Saturday morning, state and local officials said. Follow live updates.

Guys nothing personal but if you rub your a.i. generated anti-ICE, anti-Trump memes in my face I gotta unfollow and mute you and also you’re dead to me.

It’s the sewage that fascism both shits and eats, it’s like blowing smoke in my face to show me how evil the tobacco companies are.

Immigration is a fake problem. We have politicians on the one hand who want to use immigrants as scapegoats for our real ones and politicians on the other who are too cowardly to stand against them and tell the truth. That is the entire situation. Until that changes, people will continue to die.

It is not your duty to finish the work, but neither are you free to abandon it
It can be a hard pill to swallow but you have to accept that while you will prevail in this struggle, you may not be there to witness it.
Nonviolence is, in fact, working. This administration is weaker than it was a year ago. More and more of the public is becoming galvanized against it; its agents are being impeded.

Not exactly the same as what you're asking, but Android has a feature that can automatically record up to 45 minutes of footage, and automatically share with your emergency contacts. Triggered by pressing the power button 5 times. Located under Safety & Emergency settings.

Utterly bizarre that the authorities keep responding to ICE murders by acting like protesters are smashing windows and burning police stations. They seem to be responding to the 2020 protests, not what's happening now

LRP: Agreed with the general sentiments but "Republicans are becoming cautious" (or even less likely, "starting to push back on Trump") is always a dubious proposition when it's reported via leaks. They love leaking that they're pushing back on Trump instead of actually doing it

the trump people, business leaders and the dog-brained pundits in nyc and dc saw trump win in 2024 and thought “okay, we’re just gonna do fascism, the argument is over” and they’re all going to slowly wake up to the simple but true counterpoint: nuh uh

I saw of lot of smart, well-meaning people fall prey to this re: the Gaza genocide, to the point where they were sharing literal snuff videos without warning. It's how Q A N O N and the Satanic Panic operated -- fusing moral indignity with our craving to keep pressing the button to see lurid images.

The aide shakily confirmed it was one of the coldest February nights on record. Before turning over and going back to sleep, the PM exclaimed,
“Makes you proud to be British!”

Reminded of the story of when Churchill was woken by a Prime Ministerial aide, who nervously informed him that a backbench MP had been arrested in the bushes with a guardsman, and that the newspapers had got hold of it (as, presumably, had the soldier)…
