I highly recommend this entire thread, not just the initial link.
It was 62 years ago #OnThisDay in 1963 that President John F. Kennedy was assassinated.

Here's a piece I wrote for the History of the BBC website a couple of years ago about how the BBC covered the news.

I'm quite pleased with this one...

We’re always asking for Cheerios so we thought we’d show you one of the many ways we use them: ENRICHMENT! Mental stimulation is incredibly important for our residents to be as healthy and happy as possible.

As well as tracking crime numbers I think we should be given data on the proportion that involve high jinks and/or capersome elements. The criminal fraternity could do a lot to improve their image by steering things in this direction.

Sadly, Rasputin's daughter Maria died in September 1977, a year before Boney M honoured her old man with a banging tune of his own
Quirky historical fact:

Rasputin's daughter could conceivably have heard "God Save The Queen" by the Sex Pistols

For different reasons - jobs, study, family!

Most went to more ethnically diverse countries (Australia, Canada, America + UAE) than the UK!

Because an increasingly ethnonationalist Goodwin has an ever narrow view of who is "British" he instinctively imagines all these British emigrants are white
