Genuinely, if you live in the UK you should so the consultation just to find out some of the unbelievable details of what's being proposed. Even with their spin and obfuscation it's shocking
the whole thing is of course completely revolting. 20 YEARS to settlement for refugees? no settlement if you’ve ever had a criminal conviction or a tax debt? 10 YEARS added if you’ve ever received benefits? partners and children on their own routes to settlement? What are you even TALKING about

sounds bizarre tbh. they'll (probably) turn yakuza 4 and 5 into something very different because of changes to 3, and they won't be branded kiwami, but despite this they'd have to still lead into 6 and...this all feels needlessly complicated for nice guy punch man: the game

iirc the public also complained about immigration numbers when we actually had close to (or negative) net migration in the early or mid 90s. ultimately the people complaining about these things specifically will just turn to "and now we kick the ones here out" the moment we go negative

the consultation questions are horribly loaded in favour of trick question style answers, there's a few handy guides out there (though even with these, i suspect ukgov will just go "eh whatever" and push it all though) manchestercommunitycentral.org/sites/defaul...

what i would like to see, is someone with the ability to push back on this asking ukgov why they claim on the settlement consultation that ILR is automatic (it isn't), or push dom on basic elements of immigration rules like NRPF or the health surcharge. but it never, ever happens

like i can't be bothered wading through the rest because i know i'll likely end up with much of the same. perhaps the public mood is based on nonsense and obfuscation of the actual immigration rules. surely he knows what NRPF is, what the health surcharge is. maybe the public should too

the public want "Much tougher rules on can support themselves financially". sorry, we literally have no access to public funds by default. how much more tougher can you get? can someone ask him? visa holders pay billions in immigration health surcharges on top of tax/NI. again: can someone ask him?
