ukgov really is a disgrace. abolish the home office
filled out the horrible settlement consultation and I’m sorry, the question that is framed as a negative so that you have to ‘strongly disagree’ with something not happening?? This has enraged me

Genuinely, if you live in the UK you should so the consultation just to find out some of the unbelievable details of what's being proposed. Even with their spin and obfuscation it's shocking
the whole thing is of course completely revolting. 20 YEARS to settlement for refugees? no settlement if you’ve ever had a criminal conviction or a tax debt? 10 YEARS added if you’ve ever received benefits? partners and children on their own routes to settlement? What are you even TALKING about

good morning to nobody except the home office is what i'd say if i'd been kicked in the head by a horse

sounds bizarre tbh. they'll (probably) turn yakuza 4 and 5 into something very different because of changes to 3, and they won't be branded kiwami, but despite this they'd have to still lead into 6 and...this all feels needlessly complicated for nice guy punch man: the game

wild AI story from the Olympics
ice dancers were told to use songs "in the style of the 1990s." One Czech pair tried using AI to pump out a song to skate to, but their AI bot fully plagiarized "You Get What You Give" by The New Radicals and they had to change it

iirc the public also complained about immigration numbers when we actually had close to (or negative) net migration in the early or mid 90s. ultimately the people complaining about these things specifically will just turn to "and now we kick the ones here out" the moment we go negative

the consultation questions are horribly loaded in favour of trick question style answers, there's a few handy guides out there (though even with these, i suspect ukgov will just go "eh whatever" and push it all though) manchestercommunitycentral.org/sites/defaul...

what i would like to see, is someone with the ability to push back on this asking ukgov why they claim on the settlement consultation that ILR is automatic (it isn't), or push dom on basic elements of immigration rules like NRPF or the health surcharge. but it never, ever happens
February 10, 2026 at 4:47 PM
there are also surveys showing that the public think immigration overall, which is largely made up of visa holders, is going up. and of course every article always leads off with a picture of people in boats instead of literally anything else
Two-thirds of UK voters wrongly think immigration is rising, poll finds
Exclusive: Voters say they have little confidence that government can control borders despite sharp falls in net migration

the fact that the entire rotten scheme is prefaced with lies from top to bottom is infuriating
it's not great when the consultation landing page continues the labour habit of just making things up where immigration rules are concerned. SETTLEMENT IS NOT GRANTED AUTOMATICALLY. absolute joke of a government

british public wrong about nearly everything etc
February 10, 2026 at 4:13 PM
why bother engaging with someone complaining that (for example) my wife came here with a visa instead of on a boat, and now the public hates her even more? someone talking about migrants needing tougher rules to support themselves when we've had those rules for years? what's the point?
February 10, 2026 at 4:01 PM
like i can't be bothered wading through the rest because i know i'll likely end up with much of the same. perhaps the public mood is based on nonsense and obfuscation of the actual immigration rules. surely he knows what NRPF is, what the health surcharge is. maybe the public should too
February 10, 2026 at 3:30 PM
the public want "Much tougher rules on can support themselves financially". sorry, we literally have no access to public funds by default. how much more tougher can you get? can someone ask him? visa holders pay billions in immigration health surcharges on top of tax/NI. again: can someone ask him?
February 10, 2026 at 3:28 PM
the most laughable thing about the "it takes more than a piece of paper to make you british" racists is that yes they're correct, people do in fact do a lot more to become british than being handed a piece of paper
February 10, 2026 at 3:21 PM
speaking of "divisive": why does the government keep doing this?

RGG had a chance to fix the worst yakuza game, but instead have once again made the worst yakuza game
Review: Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties is a remake built on disdain, not reverence, looking to fix a game that wasn’t broken, and ending up with little to show for itself.
