Sounds like ICE killed a guy and then held american citizens hostage at gunpoint until they agreed to destroy the evidence
Our staff is on the ground supporting families. Many workers-including US citizens, were held by federal authorities at the farm for 8 hours or more. US citizen workers report only being released after they were forced to delete photos and videos of the raid from their phones. 4/

I think at some point we have to recognize that, when rich people talk about "free markets and personal liberties" they only mean for themselves.
Joe Davidson, longtime Washpost columnist, quit due to editing restrictions. He couldn't call a pay raise for fed'l employees "well deserved" or say that a hallmark of Trump’s "turbulent months in office is his widespread, ominous attack on thought, belief & speech”

Tbh, I think the problem here is less the Democratic Party and more the "centrist" media. Like, Dean Phillips is not currently elected to anything, and he is actually pretty disliked by the Democratic establishment for being a rat. Why are they interviewing him except to push an agenda?
Everyone like this needs to be hounded out of the Democratic Party. These are people who genuinely believe a permanent Trump/GOP trifecta is a better outcome than policy being slightly left of their preferences. They are a major reason why millions of people who agree with Dems don't bother to vote.

Every American should read this ACLU lawsuit about what is happening in Los Angeles and California. It is the stuff of dystopian nightmares. This is not immigration enforcement. It is positively stuffed with videos and articles documenting racial profiling on a scale unseen since Jim Crow.

President Trump has so far withheld federal relief funds, with many arguing that California Gov. Gavin Newsom and other Democrats in the deep-blue state have mishandled the fires and should be forced to rescind liberal policies in exchange for aid.

Police who keep their identities secret are, quite literally, secret police. I don’t know why this is even controversial. You don’t get to yank people off the streets while hiding your face and identity and still retain the respectability of an accountable, democratic police force.
“Secret police” are your words, not mine. Seems like you’ve been giving them a lot of thought.

Unlike NYPD, your agents don’t identify themselves & wear masks that cover their faces. Now they ignore judges’ rulings, too.

What law enforcement agents are supposed to uphold … is the rule of law.

YES. Part of the reason Trump seems impervious to bad press is because news outlets know what bad press looks like and specifically avoid giving it to him
one thing in particular: reporters know very well how to do politics with journalism, despite their protests to the contrary prospect.org/politics/202...

In one part, it describes them going to car washes, and arresting workers AND customers. Basically just rounding people up. If this is the blueprint for what’s about to come with that huge amount of ICE funding, it’s going to get dark very quickly

It's true that a huge number of people clearly need to touch the stove. My thing is just that
1. Idk they'll actually be able to take their hands off in a reasonable amount of time after learning the lesson.
2. It is forcing their children to touch the stove, too
I broadly agree that reveling in the suffering of random people is bad. On the other hand, one of our country's biggest issues is that voters see Politics is as this distant, esoteric, and somewhat dirty thing that happens far away and has no effect on their lives.
yall do not engage, argue with, put on blast, et al, dumbasses who can't wait to say "they voted for this!" about states struck by disaster. block them. block them the 2nd you see their garbage. take joy in knowing that you are limiting their toxic reach. they are dumbasses. they belong on twitter.

One incredibly bad aspect of climate change is that arid soil absorbs less water. So shifting to a pattern where annual precipitation volume remains steady, but arrives in shorter bursts means flooding becomes much worse
The trouble with massive, torrential rain in Central Texas is that a.) we simultaneously really need it and b.) it’s increasingly arriving in the package we call “horrific flood event”
