And these 8, us, are of course meant to be friends of the US. In the last heat of course as we’ve seen, we are no longer treated as such, and MUST adjust accordingly
Starmer’s US policy lies in tatters. Trump is now punishing the UK and NATO allies just for doing the right thing.

Time for the PM to stand firm against the bully in the White House, and work with European and Commonwealth allies to make him back down from this reckless plan.

It’s always the same type of angry, entitled loser who likes to rage against free speech being obstructed, until it comes to something they don’t want or don’t like. What a shrivelled little turd of a man
that’s not very free speech-y
It will not surprise you to learn that Toby Youngs 'Free Speech Union' has obtained a High Court injunction banning the publication of a list of its donors open.substack.com/pub/democrac...

Where’s the other $200m going? And how can we be sure that Trump isn’t getting any of it?

ICE has kidnapped so many people from their cars that the city had to put out this statement. Let that sink in.
Vehicles that are abandoned due to an ICE detention and towed to the City's impound lot will be released to their owners or a representative at no cost.

NF chose to polish Trump's ego (like he'd ever hear), when its VERY clear exactly what Trump is and how dangerous he is. "What if he did something great?" Well, he hasnt, has he? And as Zoe said, in the pathetic whataboutery example, he's doing another bad thing www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-i...

This is simply a lie. There was no “open borders experiment” and what he’s talking about affected legal migration, not illegal. The attack seems to be that this racist used to be insufficiently racist
“Robert Jenrick is the man who as Immigration Minister oversaw the open borders experiment that led to the biggest increase in illegal immigration in our country”

More than 1 in 10 think that a rancid stain of a man, disgraced several times and clearly with no morals or integrity, is actually a good politician they'd like to see do well. Why do they not realise that, as always, we should ask for better, not just rehashed slop from the political failure bucket
11% of British people hold a favourable view of Robert Jenrick, according to new YouGov polling

Reminder that in the UK an incoming radical, populist government would have immediate access to immense, unchecked executive power.

And the current government is doing nothing to protect us from that.
NEW

The UK constitution is even more vulnerable than the US constitution

In the face of an illiberal radical assault, what has happened politically in America could easily happen in the UK

Once the semi conductors are gone, America’s gone. Terrifying for Taiwan, and the rest of us
Lutnick on Taiwan: "They need to keep our president happy. Because our president is the key to protecting their country. So they need to make him happy. So you say, why would they do this? The answer is because Donald Trump is vital to protecting them."

This sounds more like a scheme to abandon Taiwan than to make America great.
Lutnick: "The objective is to bring 40% of Taiwan's entire supply chain and production, to domestically bring it in to America during President Trump's term. This is fire right now. This is it. We're gonna break ground. If they don't build in America, the tariffs is likely to be 100%"

As ever, their plans rely on people having no memory
The Reform pitch is increasingly “the last government was terrible, so we’ve hired everyone who was in it”.

Do not be surprised if in the first days of an incoming populist radical government there is an entire raft of statutory instruments and other measures prepared and ready to go, exploiting every gap in our constitutional arrangements.
And worryingly, as you highlight, it would be extremely naive for us to assume the well funded right wing “think tanks” haven’t already worked out exactly how to dismantle what protections remain at blitzkrieg speed, should they gain power.

A truly, truly shameful politician
Jenrick saying he's "put aside personal ambition" too join Reform is the single most shameless statement I've ever heard.

If he "put aside personal ambition" he'd disappear. That's all there is.

The right in general in the UK, do rely very heavily on people not remembering anything that’s happened in the last ten years
Incredibly, no-one on Nigel Farage’s team has got round to deleting this post. It’s still live as Robert Jenrick gives his big defection speech.
January 15, 2026 at 6:16 PM
Imagine selling out to the far right for a hope of power, and this is what you get at the unveiling
Do you think Reform UK members will accept the man who opened the asylum hotels?

Farage: "I'm getting people in who are apologetic, indeed ashamed, of what they've done in the past."

This is totally humiliating for Robert Jenrick.
January 15, 2026 at 6:12 PM
I can’t imagine anyone would look at all those terrible ex Tory ministers now in Reform, and even entertain the idea of holding them accountable for the way they ran the country into the ground. No, everyone will have forgotten
"Why would anyone hand the keys back to these people [the Conservative Party] to take the country forward and hope that they would fix it" says Robert Jenrick, who was a Conservative Party Shadow Minister until just a few hours ago, and has been plotting to take it over for years
January 15, 2026 at 6:06 PM
Current Jenrick doesnt believe much of the things previous Jenrick at least claimed to support or believe in, but that just makes his current incarnation even grubbier and dishonest
interesting to see if Jenrick still believes this

It's wild to watch people like Joe Rogan come to grips that voting for the "mass deportations now" candidate meant voter for a literal war against your non-White neighbors. The entire discussion around the 2024 campaign was so fundamentally unserious it might as well have happened in a fever dream.

Finding the reactions to this bleakly funny. Lads, the point isn’t that you are sending enough people to “win”, because we in fact, can’t win. It is just to have a tripwire! If you are going “why not 13, like Germany?” you have not understood how bad things are.

And let’s not forget, this is all happening in the richest country in history
There will be demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week.
Brooke Rollins: "We've run over 1,000 simulations. It can cost around $3 a meal for a piece of chicken, a piece of broccoli, corn tortilla, and one other thing. So there is a way to do this that actually will save the average American consumer money."
