Also Matt: No not like that. I meant white people only.
Reflections on the budget from the head of Students4Reform

She's so clearly never been cut out for public service, but to degrade her position repeatedly as she does just shows how far standards have fallen since Johnson trashed everything.
Utterly juvenile and unparliamentary antics from Kemi Badenoch during her response to the budget.

Desperate, undignified and ineffective.

The smug laughter as they misdirect, knowing that they're being deliberately dishonest. These people are sick.
This is amazing.

As if "trading down" isn't an economic decision.
Hassett: "On one of the Sunday shows, the anchor criticized the fact Walmart said the Thanksgiving dinner is cheaper by about $10. Then he said, 'Oh yeah, but they substituted generic stuff,' as if having a generic something is a crime for ordinary folks! It shows how out of touch these people are."

Such classic gaslighting it's an instructive moment. The question is not whether generic is better or worse, it's that a list with more expensive brand names is not the same as a list with cheaper generics. Perverting that truth into an attack on those calling it out is Manipulation 101.

All Farage has to do is say he might have said some terrible things when he was a teenager, but then he matured and grew up, and has never been accused of racism, xenophobia or inciting hatred and division on any occasion since. That should do it. Nasty then, nasty now. Brings shame to our country
Another contemporary accused the Reform leader of being a “complete liar” in an interview on Tuesday afternoon. Andy Field, a GP who was two years below Farage at Dulwich, said he had directly witnessed racial abuse from the Reform leader.

Nigel Farage’s abuse was persistent, not banter, claims ex-schoolmate
Peter Ettedgui says he was targeted at Dulwich College. The Reform UK leader denies he racially abused anybody

It was already a very clear and documented outcome that Labour could have chosen to avoid when they won the election. To spend another 18 months so far carrying on Tory cruelty is shameful
Why the two-child limit has to go, in a chart.

It’s what Cameron and Osborne wanted. They were told poverty would increase but they pushed on, and still claimed austerity was a success. There should be consequences for this level of increased suffering
In contrast, child poverty is on a stubbornly upwards trajectory, and without further action will hit a historic high by the end of the Parliament.

Today pensioners are half as likely to be in poverty than children.

Hard to conclude much else other than Labour hate refugees as much as Tories did.
The government’s decision to halve the time limit for refugees to leave Home Office accommodation is driving people into homelessness and exploitation, according to migrant rights campaigners and homelessness charities

By me, for @theleaduk.bsky.social national.thelead.uk/p/new-asylum...
New asylum policies making homeless refugees “targets for the far right”
Labour’s abrupt return to the 28-day move-on period is pushing vulnerable people into rough sleeping and exposing them to fraud and abuse.

This is exactly what the recent Trump-BBC 'scandal' was designed to achieve. The BBC is now self-censoring criticisms of Trump in the name of "impartiality"
I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

What is Russia, the invading aggressor going to reduce its armed forces to? This is ridiculous!
The FT, citing senior officials, reports that Ukraine has agreed to limit its Armed Forces to 800,000 troops. Unresolved issues remain: territory and security guarantees.

This pretence in politics and the media to ‘care about children’ is so obviously bollocks, it’s utterly disgusting to see this happen and know nothing is being done to stop it. Shame on them all
How is this not the top story on every news bulletin?
This has been happening for years and instead of doing anything to protect children successive governments have made the situation worse. This isn't just on councils. It is part of failings on a State level.

You’d have thought they’d spotted how much it was already struggling
Alongside mooted restrictions on salary sacrifice - which universities make a lot of use of to pay for pensions - this is not shaping up to be a great budget for a sector already mired in cutbacks and redundancies.

Well.

Not only was the US peace plan not a peace plan, it was from Russia and not the US.
So the US was aware that the world thought the document was US endorsed, yet waited until now to clarify that it wasn't?

How could the US have communicated to Ukraine that they had to accept the proposal or lose US support without clarifying that the Russian proposal wasn't actually their proposal?

Reform is a party of rich boys, and the fact this isn’t clear to their voters and the wider public is a sham, pure theatre that the media enables
This is vital context to Zia Yusuf's attacks on @zackpolanski.bsky.social.

Few people have paid attention to how Yusuf made his millions.

He sold "ultimate luxuries" to the mega rich.

Yusuf is desperately trying to torpedo the idea that him and his mates should be taxed.

Legal professionals have offered numerous alternatives to address the backlog.
