You don’t need to know a single fact about Somali Americans to know the campaign against them is morally hideous. Either you can recognize that these campaigns are wrong a priori, or you are in your heart a racist.
I was wondering why their is so much random racist discourse on Somalis on the TL rn but oh it’s election season for governor rn lol

it's genuinely fascinating to me that "you cannot facilitate a genocide against a people and still expect their vote" is too advanced for some analysts to understand.

A great example of how the @nytimes.com centers white Americans and Trump supporters in its anecdotal political coverage. You never see stories like this about Black Democrats whose cities are cracked in Republican gerrymandering to give them Republican elected officials.
They Wanted a Conservative State. They Might Get a Democratic Representative Instead.

The passage of Proposition 50, which redrew California’s congressional map, means that all of the state’s conservative north is likely to be represented by Democrats.

Every Democrat running for office needs to promise investigations and full prosecutions from top to bottom, remove its funding bloat then break up the agency and distribute its core remaining useful functions across other agencies.
ICE detain father shopping on Christmas Eve—then steal his family's groceries.

Then 3 agents divvy up his paid for food—taking what they want for themselves.

"Can I just get the wife's number to call and let her know?" woman asks.

"No, guess he should've complied," agent says.

My father-in-law is a Democratic governor. It is difficult to get his attention in a magnificent bill because he is lost in wonder. We were in a treasury together years ago and I asked him what it would cost to raise taxes today. I will never forget his answer… 'We can’t, we don’t know how to do it'
Cutting property taxes for Oregonians affected by wildfires. Canceling planned freeway tolls. Pausing local new taxes in the Portland area. We have to keep going to make life more affordable for Oregonians.

Biden ran a point and a half ahead of House Dems generally. But more relevant: you know what winning a seat by 13 points instead of 8 points gets you? Absolutely nothing. Even if Casten traded away a few points he didn't need anyway in order to go further on whatever issue, that's rational behavior!
when we said “defer electoral strategy to the actual politicians running for actual offices” we meant “after calculating wins above replacement somehow”

It’s pretty cool that Donald Trump can pardon a guy who took money from butchers of Christians and the Evangelicals are still gonna support him lol.

Congressman Henry Cuellar was indicted for money laundering, bribery, and conspiracy, allegedly taking about $600,000, mostly from Azerbaijan, to influence U.S. policy.

President Donald Trump pardoned Cuellar, because Trump supports money laundering, bribery, and conspiracy.

Increasingly convinced that freedom of movement and ease of attaining citizenship in one’s chosen country is the great social reform of our time, and once achieved it will have enormously far-reaching effects, mostly positive, on a par with the eight hour day and maybe even the abolition of slavery.

Indiana Republicans have unveiled their proposal to re-gerrymander the congressional map & expand their current 7-2 majority to 9-0.

The Dem-held 1st would flip to Trump+12 & the 7th to Trump+19. All 7 GOP seats would be at least Trump+18.

After 9/11, Bush demanded Iraq surrender its weapons of mass destruction or he’d invade the country. Of course, Iraq could not surrender weapons it did not have.

Just in case this 24 hour deadline for 1 million people to evacuate a place they’re literally blockaded into feels at all familiar.
