The saddest aspect of life right now is that science gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom.

Steve isn’t here anymore, but he always posted this picture on Hanukkah so I thought we could carry on his tradition and remember him.
Happy Hanukkah to our friends who celebrate. Rachel Posner, a rabbi’s wife in Kiel, Germany, took this photograph in 1931 -- a potent reminder that fascism must be fought in every generation, even if it's wrapped in an American flag and a red hat.

Being a good human transcends labels.

Ahmed reminds us of our better selves, but it's on us to choose it.
Heartbroken about the massacre in Sydney while also so inspired by Ahmed Al Ahmed, the fruit vendor passing by who disarmed one of the shooters because he was there and it was the right thing to do. Ahmed al Ahmed represents the future we want to build.

Everyone else: omg yes

GenX: did we learn nothing
These microrobots can execute digitally defined algorithms and autonomously change behavior in response to their surroundings.

It paves the way for general-purpose microrobots that work together to carry out tasks without supervision in uncertain environments.

It may sound radical, but if one guy has so much wealth and power that he can use the large newspaper he owns to publicly threaten to ruin a service we all rely on, presumably as a bargaining tactic to get lower rates, we probably need to tax that guy until he can't do that anymore.

But Amazon may give up its long-standing partnership with USPS to deliver packages itself, which could spell disaster for the mail agency.

Nevertheless, we persist.
Commemorating #WorldAIDSday is an act of defiance against ideology driven policies that will end our progress to end the epidemic.

Doctor Who could beat any dumbass Hogwarts wizard in a fight, prove me wrong

Just as you thought food delivery companies couldn't inflict any more misery on society:

Instead of using lowly-paid gig economy contractors to deliver groceries, they're replacing humans with robots, who, in turn, force humans off the pavement into road traffic.

Willful ignorance is a hell of a drug.

Wild how so many people choose soothing their own single ego over the smallest actions to prevent illness and death to so many.

It's depressingly self-defeating.
Genuinely think some people do not want to admit Covid still exists and it’s dangerous, because if they admitted that, they’d have to admit they aren’t doing anything about it.

I don’t know, I thought after Long Covid effectively ended my chance at a directing career, ruined my health, my energy, my ability to eat a lot of foods, and my body, it would seem pretty obvious why I don’t want to get it again, even going so far as to sacrifice (the horror!) bars and restaurants.

If I’m understanding this correctly, X is owned by a white nationalist who pays poor people of color in developing countries to pretend to be working class white Americans to scare other white Americans into being afraid poor people of color from developing countries are going to ruin America?

Starting well before college, and continuing into the workplace.

The sadly inescapable experience of existing while female.
In honor of Larry Summers, I asked the female members of my college class (1987) to say if they had any experiences with sexual harassment by teachers/professors, back when this was tolerated as, I dunno, the cost of attending college, and OH MY GOD.
