Anyone who has read about the history of lynching for even five damn minutes would be horrified, absolutely horrified, by how sadistic and soulless the American right wing has always been.

They absolutely did. Dani is such a bright light on the TL because their books are so playful.

So my heart is breaking to see them post this and to hear from you, Anna.

I tried to explain to my dad that this was more awful to me because I’m also a gay mom with stuffed animals in the car and failed, Dani captured the heart of it.

I think Dani is right on the money here unfortunately.
The US government releasing the murderer’s video, including the part where he said “Fucking bitch” to a visibly queer woman he just murdered in front of her wife, is an intentional death threat to all queer people in America.

Exactly. Chris and I were talking about it last night and there was simply nothing to take away from it other than to terrify already terrified people.

Yeah there’s nothing exculpatory in that video. It only serves to clarify intent and willingness to murder anyone they don’t like

A white conservative would be content living under a bridge, cooking pigeons for dinner over an open barrel fire, as long as they knew black, brown, immigrant, disabled, woman or queer people didn't have a bridge, a pigeon, an open barrel, or a fire.
this resonates with the conversation I was just having about American conservatives in the South being willing to live poorly to ensure Black Americans live worse from the Reconstruction era on in an interesting way.

14/ However, experts say the FAA’s shifting approach telegraphs a disquieting truth about air safety as private companies increasingly push to use the skies as their laboratories: Regulators are learning as they go.

13/ The FAA said that it “limits the number of aircraft exposed to the hazards, making the likelihood of a catastrophic event extremely improbable,” and that it has required SpaceX to “implement numerous corrective actions”:

12/ SpaceX is asking to add even more trajectories for Starship.

Under the plan, the rocket would fly over land in Florida and Mexico, as well as the airspace of Cuba, Jamaica and the Cayman Islands, likely disrupting hundreds of flights.

10/ But nearly a year after January’s explosion, it remains unclear to the public and press just how close Starship’s wreckage came to airplanes.

SpaceX didn’t respond to our request for the data, and federal agencies that have seen the company’s report haven’t released it.

9/ In public remarks, Musk has downplayed the risk posed by the failed Starship launches.

To caption a video of flaming debris in January, he wrote: “Success is uncertain, but entertainment is guaranteed!”

6/ It wouldn’t be the last SpaceX mishap of 2025, either.

Since that midair disaster, two more Starship launches would explode at unexpected points on their flight paths, including another over the Caribbean that forced pilots to scramble to safety.

The rocket’s explosion, however, left Starship fragments across an area nearly the size of New Jersey.
