“By turns heartrending, joyful, ruminative, and infuriating, these two books bring into focus a Gaza rarely seen and even less commonly rendered, save in a stray photo by an inspired photographer, or a poem dashed off by one of its many wordsmiths.”
This Too Is Gaza - Public Books

Maddening story about an Alabamian who happened to have been born in a different country.
Fonzie thought he was an Alabamian. He lived for football and his fiancee and a little too much fun. I followed him to Mexico when he was deported to a place he did not know or understand. This is his story. As it is with any deportation, it is not his story alone.

dammit kansas you didn't have to do this. You could have listened to the science. You could have met with actual people (if they deigned to meet with you!) and figured out that bathroom bans are cruel and just really fucking unnecessary

A reminder — there are *millions* of social sites on the internet, like Storygraph for your reading and Ravelry for your knitting, etc. It’s only the biggest, run by the extremist fascists, that do these terrible things. Don’t define the internet by a handful of apps run by 5 sociopaths.

This was what a lot of the equipment on the wishlists we set up was for, and believe me. Adding these things to the list and being told this was why?

Fucking NIGHTMARISH.

(thank you everyone who sent so much warm clothing and burner phones <3)
This or just dumping people *in the woods* AND sending folks out w/o their phone or I.D.

Volunteers w/ Safe Haven wait at the gate & do sweeps of the woods, with warm clothes, a burner, and a ride home, "so no one is left alone at the gate."

I spent the evening outside the Whipple federal building in Minneapolis, where the feds have been releasing people they detained — often for no discernible reason — into the freezing cold... wearing whatever little clothing they had on at the time they were taken.

please remember that no matter how many “ICE is losing in MN” articles you read today, there is still a very real, urgent, ongoing crisis in Minnesota.
