I write short stories & drabbles, am a member of Codex and SFWA, carry on about Alabama (especially Huntsville), Fossils, metal detecting, some ill-mannered feline co-residents, and genealogy from my perch on #CedarGapMtn.

BREAKING: Starbucks workers have launched a massive, nationwide strike.

Baristas in 40 cities have walked off the job on the busiest day of Starbucks' year.

Upwards of 12,000 @sbworkersunited.org members could ultimately go on strike as the union escalates.

JD Vance calls ibuprofen "useless medication" and implies it's not "necessary, safe and effective."

I have said this before in various contexts, and often include it when I teach classes & workshops:

Submission Grinder is one of the best tools for writers out there.

If you run a spec fic/fantasy (etc) mag make sure they know about you.

One of the *very* few movies I rewatch.

One of the fascinating aspects of it is that the second time you watch it, you're watching a different movie than what you saw the first time.
Arrival turns 9 today—Denis Villeneuve’s haunting sci-fi masterpiece that made us rethink language, time & love.

Revisit its creations, themes, and legacy in our feature.

Read what @johnarchibald.bsky.social says about Sim Butler and how the state he loved went after his family and broke his heart.
He fled Alabama to protect his family, and now he warns the world

The thing about Mamdani is that he’s a talented politician but not otherworldly or one in a billion, he’s just a competent guy with popular ideas who ran against an entitled piece of shit and to me it’s a lot more optimistic to imagine 1000 campaigns like his than to view him as a unique phenomenon
