I wonder how much of this is Instagram and TikTok convincing kids that they're poor because they don't have a penthouse apartment with a car elevator like their favorite influencer
Americans in their 20s and 30s may not feel that they’re richer than their equivalents 60 years ago, but they’re objectively wrong.

It’s fascinating how important it is to some people not to say “I’m struggling, it’s hard” or “I need help”—objectively true—but to instead insist they have it worse.

JUST IMPEACH TRUMP

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD
Breaking:

Rep. Ro Khanna says the Trump DOJ's production "does not comply with" the Epstein Files Transparency Act.

Khanna says he and Rep. Thomas Massie "are exploring all options" — including impeachment of DOJ officials, inherent contempt, or referring individuals for obstruction of justice.

Children are being exploited. Let’s respond by dramatically hindering our ability to point out or criticize children being exploited, using methods we don’t understand because we’re old and incurious.
Children are being exploited and abused because Big Tech consistently prioritizes profits over people.

Enough is enough. Time to sunset Section 230.

I would actually argue that some companies today would cover something like that, and that there are many more jobs today that you’d think of as good white-collar jobs. The difference is that the people at the margins from previous eras have been forgotten by history, despite being vast in number
It was better in the post-war era. More workers had union protection. Companies didn't do mass lay-offs of white-collar workers every time there was an economic downturn. I'm 49. My mom dated someone who worked for Cray who had his 28-day stay at Hazelden covered three times. Who would do that now?

Like there is also a huge media-based pipeline of content designed to get men to gamble on sports but no one is postulating that this was a demand-driven phenomenon of men with "having excess money" problems.

The thing about sexual prohibition against women and sexual force against women is the at they both assume it’s men’s job to control women and that sexuality is the primary site where this happens and tool for achieving it.
Have oft thought that the thing about the modern radical right is they do not so much have an agreed version of what women's gender role should be so much as they have a consensus that gender roles should be A Thing.

People love this one because they love American exceptionalism. The Euros can't possibly come up with their own unique evils, it all has to be about us
If you’ve heard the “the Nazis got their ideas from the US segregationists” I beg you to please stop. This is both false and it minimizes historical European antisemitism in a misguided attempt to emphasize the nature of US anti-Black racism.

It’s horrific without comparison to Nazism.
May I politely encourage you to reconsider this framing. It is inaccurately stated and suggests consistent and strong linkages that do not exist.

The Nazis did not “get their ideas” from confederate laws. Antisemitism and anti-Jewish laws existed in Europe long before the Confederacy…

Some people asked why farmers supported Trump in 2024 after he fucked them over so badly with tariffs in 2017-20.

Answer: he didn't fuck them over! He mailed them all checks!
1) Impose massive tariffs on China
2) China retaliates by ending its soybean imports
3) Cut deal w/ China so they'll buy our soybeans
4) China buys only 20%, so far, of what it agreed to purchase
5) Offer $12 billion to US farmers so they don't go bankrupt

cool that the official position of the administration appears to be that black people don’t really count as americans

Candidates don’t even outrun their party anymore. Every election is national now. The public hates Donald Trump rn. I think this TN candidate could have been a Leftcom with a “D” next to their name and the results would’ve been the same.
