I decided to get one of those substack things people have and write about how Labour's victory is a reminder of how party strategy changes in a multi party, volatile environment. There's a bit about the 1977 Dutch election if you like that sort of thing

The coalitionable, inoffensive, Labour Party
How party strategy in European PR systems can tell us about Labour's victory, and a journey through the weird and wonderful operation of Britain's electoral system.

Keir Starmer: have I got a suggestion for improving your approval ratings. All it requires is a state visit and a big net.
If we can capture another country's president, can another country come and capture ours? Asking for a friend.

This statement certainly doesn't back Trump's attack explicitly - it very carefully doesn't do that - and implicitly rebukes it through its referance to international law.

It's carefully drafted to avoid direct criticism, but very clearly doesn't do what Adam claims.
Keir Starmer explicitly backs Trump's attack on Venezuela.

Says he has "long supported" getting rid of Maduro, who is an "illegitimate President" and "we shed no tears about the end of his regime".

I frankly think it's pretty clear that the Trump admin, being fundamentally stupid, thought that Venezuelan people and institutions would all turn around as one and say 'thank you, what do you want us to do next'

issuing correction on a previous press conference of mine, regarding the VP of Venezuela, Delcy Rodriguez. you do not, under any circumstances, 'gotta hand it to her'

It's almost as if the Trump admin can't be trusted.

Honestly the thing I find most nightmarish about all this is that the Trump admin seems to have absolutely zero idea how the transition is going to work at all. This is a country of almost 30m.

A reminder that Trump's line on Iraq in 2016 was that the US should go and take Iraq's oil for real this time.

It has always been a mystery to me that some people convinced themselves this guy was anti-war.

You can like or dislike Petro, but he is democratically elected and completely legitimate. Obviously he's mean about Trump though. Makes clear Trump's true worldview here: you can be as authoritarian or as criminal as you like, if you bend the knee
Next up…. Trump says Colombian President Gustavo Petro “really does have to watch his ass”.

🇨🇼 Hilarious moments on Curacao Facebook groups as Trump voters from Florida try to convince pissed off locals and European Dutch that closing of airspace is great because there will be less crime in the world with Maduro gone.

If X's owner was seen as left leaning the moral panic over this would be gigantic.
This does seem just a little bit bad! Idk the sort of thing you’d think politicians might distance themselves from or something!

I hate how LLMs get anthropomorphised. It's ultimately a way for companies to avoid admitting responsibility for not thinking through the consequences of poor decision making

“many angry posts should have been naps or little packets of crackers” is deep wisdom and you don’t need to reproduce to embrace it!
one unexpected outlook change from being a dad is taking the self care people 10x more seriously when it comes to dealing with weirdly directed anger and rage (including Online). many angry posts should have been naps or little packets of crackers
