seeing a lot of liberal and democratic pundits talking about about accountability on here today and the idea that the current admin won’t be in power forever. that might be true but in what pipe dream are dem pols ever holding any of these ghouls accountable for any of this.

If you’ve historically been a “vote blue no matter who” type, it’d be cool if you could use this moment to understand why vilifying leftists who actually do think it matters is basically a psyop you accidentally fell for. This is why people warn you about guys like Newsom.

The model of holding individual senators responsible is broken here. The retirees clearly agreed to take the fall. Which is why the nos should get no credit for voting no unless they move to oust Schumer

Truly amazing that any time the democrats have to bite the bullet and do something that ruins countless lives, there's always *just* enough votes to get it done, but if there is a vote on something that would actually improve people's lives, they are always one vote short. Crazy how that happens.

"We're losing because there are always moments when we lose" is a lesson that Ta-Nahisi Coates understands intuitively, and that Ezra Klein has never had to, and that difference speaks volumes about American history.
of all the things about ta-nehisi coates’s philosophy i wish people would internalize the main one is: sometimes you lose

i think leftists who can't accomodate people of faith into their politics are really really making a profound mistake
How? You simply tell them to fuck if they are homophobic, transphobic or aren't secular. It's easy and refreshing.

yo FUCK this guy to hell
while smiling!

Gavin Newsom literally dressed up in his best Bad Boy™️ attire, invited the press, and smiled as he destroyed everything these constituents had in the world.

Gavin Newsom is not a bad candidate;

Gavin Newsom is truly, at his core, a bad and despicable human being.

I read the "Biden was old" book and the most heart breaking, infuriating revelation was that, in her refusal to appear disloyal (in large part bc the Biden team never trusted her) Harris swallowed her greatest differentiation from him:

That she vehemently opposed the handling of the Gazan siege.
COLBERT: You warned everyone…he would prosecute political enemies, cut Medicaid, alienate our allies, give tax cuts to the rich. I know you're not here to say 'I told you so' but would you like to?

HARRIS: You're correct. I did predict a lot of that. But what I did not predict was the capitulation.

using @blankcheck.bsky.social covering the coen brothers as a reason to finally complete the filmography. last attempt i made was half their career ago, when netflix was still discs and ‘blood simple’ was not in its library, so it’s a blind spot for me. and i’ve only seen miller’s crossing once.
