I am so fucking over this "well we had it coming because of weakness or whatever" navel-gazing pity party bullshit. Not even the people that voted for the fucker deserve what's happening because we all - ALL OF US - deserve better than what the fuck is going on. I'm here to work to save ALL of us.
Fucking spare me. None of us, even the people that fucking voted for the creep, deserved this. This shit fucking blows and we should be pissed off about it, none of this "well America had it coming you know" nonsense. Fuck that noise.
If every time California did something pro-consumer businesses actually left this state would be a blasted wasteland

I think moderating our reaction based on if it will provoke positive change in an org that is literally self-organizing against any positive change or introspection and is all-in on bootlicking power is a bad impulse, and if they want to keep ruining themselves we should keep critiquing them for it.
You'll ignore this, but every time you tweet angrily about crap like that Nuzzi piece you're confirming NYT editors' intuitions/incentivizing more of it. The entire intellectual/journo model here is, "Does this person get people angry? Yes? OK they're provocative/get talked about. Write about her."

For once, finally: East Coast Bias (complementary)
the relative absence of California politicians in the Epstein files is a testament to the pure nature of our leaders, unlike that of the perfidious east coast

The Padres and especially their fans do not deserve this. To see the legacy that Peter Seidler left behind in that city - he genuinely wanted the Padres to be something that San Diego could be proud of - be ruined by his surviving family is so sad.
Seidler family announces they are exploring “strategic options” for the Padres, including a potential sale.

I'm old enough to remember people saying that the one thing that had successfully fractured Trump's base would not fracture Trump's base now that even worse things came out this morning

Even when May was dealing, the big question mark was how to make his individual pitches - which were all nasty - work off each other. He never quite found the set of 2-3 pitches that work together to make him unhittable, like Skubal figuring out his changeup, maybe if he stayed healthy he could.
Wrote about Dustin May's free agency, mostly because I can't get over the fact that he's got six years of service time already

Well Dem ownership of ACA expiration lasted, what, 2 days?
NEW: Republicans demand tougher abortion restrictions to extend Obamacare funds

This demand spans Senate leadership to Finance Cmte to proponents of ACA money.

Dems say hell no, current Hyde protections suffice.

"It's a nonstarter," Shaheen tells me.

Republicans demand tougher abortion restrictions to extend Obamacare funds
Democrats say that’s a nonstarter, arguing there are already limits on abortion access. The dispute could torpedo a deal, leading to higher health insurance premiums for millions.

Any franchise that scored one of the best car stunts in history with a fucking slide whistle is not a serious franchise that should be taken seriously
The James Bond discourse just doesn't work on any level for me, what do you mean "the audience won't buy it," they think Timothy Dalton and Sean Connery are the same guy

Bond (Dalton) vs. Bond (Brosnan) vs. Bond (Craig) with Bond (Lazenby) as the hidden big bad puppetmaster
bond vs. tenet
there are hollywood execs right now sending emails and blasting teams chats with ideas for a marvel style James Bond multiverse even though zero people care that Bond "died" in the last one

Checking in on Blue Jays stuff and man we fucking broke them, JD Bunkis is out here talking about how the Dodgers are now the Jays' biggest rival, and that he thought about Muncy as a good get if we didn't pick up his option and it made him sick to his stomach

Either this is bullshit, in which case he should be removed, or it's true and he has no control over the caucus, in which case he should be removed.

Keep pouring pressure on.
Mark Kelly notably declines to endorse Chuck Schumer as the leader of Senate Dems going forward
November 10, 2025 at 6:17 PM
It's the utter lack of grace or unity that makes this bad. If they had stood together and said "We have gotten enough that we think that this is a tolerable deal FOR THIS ROUND," people would not be nearly as mad.
like this is basically it, the melts melted under pressure
November 10, 2025 at 5:33 PM
Basically this, but with more venom towards Senate caucus leadership and a need to see a legit impact on the Dem caucus to trust them again. Saying they got nothing is wrong - but the way we got here is trust-shattering and change needs to happen before it can be rebuilt.

That is the other option, that this was just an orchestrated effort to offer up retiring senators as sin eaters - in which case voting out the whole lot of them seems like the only remedy.

This has to be the demand - not just a unfocused "fuck the cavers", but a focused demand to replace Schumer with someone who has already proven up to the moment. I will be making regular calls to have Schiff and Padilla demand this, and the more of us that do the more real it could be.
