It's not the world's most elegant code (I taught myself TS this winter to do it), but as a general reminder: I have open sourced the code that we use for Skywatch automation, for anyone interested in monitoring the firehose and labeling based on rulesets.

Breaking: we release a fully synthetic generalist dataset for pretraining, SYNTH and two new SOTA reasoning models exclusively trained on it. Despite having seen only 200 billion tokens, Baguettotron is currently best-in-class in its size range. pleias.fr/blog/blogsyn...

Okay one major annoyance is that the machine stops taking keyboard or mouse input when waking from sleep. I can SSH in, but have to restart to be able to use the desktop.

In my old town the GOP had run basically without serious challenge for decades. A bunch of us "millennials" joined the local Dem party and basically asked to help.
We were running it in a year. Within 4 years we had a majority of town seats flipped Dem. A FAR more progressive Dem than old party

“Rather than taking over the Democratic Party the same way the right took over the Republican Party, we should take the easier route and just start up a new party ourselves!”
I’m about to fill my pockets with stones and walk into the sea.

that’s an argument i think people could respect, but the won’t even make it

This coward needs to be gone and every single one who agrees with him
MSNBC reported Schumer's office felt that the longer that shutdown went on, the more likely it was that people would start to blame the Dems.
My kingdom for Democrats that don't govern out of fear. I've said it before and I'll say it again: The American people are far braver than their reps.

I think the Dem base is ready for a “coming down the escalator” moment and whomever has the courage can grasp the lathe of heaven.
the real move if you want to be the presidential nominee in 2028 is to come out and say who did the vote swapping, air the dirty laundry, and say “our voters deserve better” imo. position yourself as the champion of the dem base against the crooked leadership they hate

The other thing is: I’ve spent years of my life defending the party to folks. Since I was in high school the narrative that “both sides are the same” has been dominant.
I’m in my mid-40s. I’m tired of carrying water when the party’s leadership always seems to be fighting the last war.

The thing is that regardless of whether or not it made sense to make a deal to keep the GOP from starving millions before the holiday season, normies, the base, and just about anyone who isn’t a Bluesky Politics Knower are reading this as surrender.

This deal to reopen the government is fucking disgraceful.
Tens of millions will lose their healthcare. Trump will be emboldened.
This is exactly what’s wrong with Democratic Party leadership and why we need more people in Congress who will actually hold the line.

Great job, @schumer.senate.gov. You've changed the story from "GOP hurting millions of Americans to please unpopular, failing, delusional despot who's destroying his party" to "Dems are too weak and divided in the face of Trump's strength to take a stand and protect Americans"
