Archivist and all around pop culture nerd. Plus I like to write about archives and archivists in pop culture! I'm a real catch! I can probably talk about other things. Maybe.

One, MTG hasn't truly apologized. Two, unless that woman is a former Parkland student, Jewish, or the lightest ****ing Black person on earth, there's no apology for her to accept because nothing was done TO HER. Three, MTG has not moved away from any part of the current bigoted Republican platform.
Yall genuinely fall for and forgive anything. When they look like you. And that is why we are here. This woman is a fucking monster. But sure I guess because she said sorry with a fucking pinky swear.

Here for some The Silt Verses praise! It beautifully written, wonderfully acted by an incredible voice cast, and I want more people to fall in love with it!

Planning to write a thing about the archival themes in a world of gods and monsters...eventually.

The river rises!
I’m not sure there is better written horror/fantasy podcast than THE SILT VERSES

if you haven’t listened do yourself a favor and become a disciple

Watched the new Frankenstein last night, been mulling it over most of today, and I'm happy to say I liked it! Always a delight to watch @realgdt.bsky.social play with monsters and the hubris of men.

Some really great queer/trans audio drama recs!
Hi @jessiegender.bsky.social ! I hugely enjoyed your video on "The Best Star Trek This Year Was… an Audio Drama". In the video you said you wanted to get more audio dramas, and I wanted to bring to your attention the number of queer and trans creators who are currently working in the medium!

ISHMAEL by Daniel Quinn. It reshaped how I looked at storytelling, narrative perspective, and the Bible as an historical text.

I kid you not, the premise is a man learns stuff from a psychic gorilla and it changed a lot of my critical thinking when I was a teen.
performative reading, lack of reading skills, nobody's reading anymore -- NO!

tell me about a book that changed you

for me? the *extremely* ahistorical novel, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY which I read at 13 and was like, "Oh, art can be *everything* to a maker, for good and bad"

Democrats were overwhelmingly united on their shutdown demands.

Americans understood that Trump and Republicans were to blame.

Voters made it known last Tuesday that they'll elect leaders who stand up to Trump.

Democrats held the cards — and folded for no reason.

Obviously this is ridiculous as a policy for employees but also as a customer my blanket preference from any people working in any store anywhere ever is “leave me the absolute fuck alone”

Smiling?? Eye contact?? TALKING TO ME???? Absolutely not!!!!
"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.

They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.

If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."

🙄 Won't stop the boycott, y'all.
Target is now requiring its employees to smile more
As the holiday season fast approaches, Target is urging its employees to add a little more “jolly” to their work routine.

THIS.

I've been saying this for many, many months.

This is a time for a new kind of politics.
We don't live in an Old World Two-Party system anymore.
"Reaching across the aisle" doesn't work so well.

It's fascism vs. democracy.
And you don't compromise with fascists.
I sincerely hope Democrats pay attention to tonight’s results across the country. They won’t learn anything but still. Maybe. People are excited by change and original campaigns and bold ideas and candidates under the age of 50!

Zohran Mamdani wins!

He ran on an unabashedly pro-transgender platform, stood up for the most vulnerable, as so many have pushed for the Democratic Party to abandon trans people in order to win.

Major win for trans New Yorkers - he has vowed for intense resistance to anti-trans Trump policies.
